They’ll probably announce further releases after Incursions has been released, with a new bundle (UNIT 9-12). If there’s events in this set where a member of the main cast dies, or they’re taking the range into post-Day of the Doctor territory, then I can imagine them wanting to announce the further sets after the release of Incursion, perhaps with artwork and story details for Volume 9, for a November release.

This looks like a very cool set. UNIT never disappoints me, the sets are always great fun to listen to and I love having River pop up all over place in interesting and unexpected ways.

I’m just happy to see Jonathan Morris writing more and more of late.

I’m just happy to see Jonathan Morris writing more and more of late. Agreed 100%. He seemed to take a bit of a back seat ad become less prolific for a couple of years, so I'm very glad e is writing more. I hope he gets back up to the levels of output we were getting from him in the first half of this decade.

There’s a great article about UNIT Incursions in the latest Vortex. All of the stories sound really good, so I’m looking forward to hearing them.
They’ve said UNIT will be back, but the break in sets will be longer than usual in order for Andrew Smith to take over as script editor and settle in. I wouldn’t be surprised if we move straight into post-Zygon Inversion territory, like the Eighth of March story.

I enjoyed This Sleep of Death. A worthy sequel to the great Static that also feels valid and standalone in its own right. I still think that Testimony could own the Static!
I have the same slight criticism with this as I did Static, where there’s plenty of scope to have some deep moral and ethic discussions, but the story decides to not go into that direction. The ending is perhaps a touch quick too, though it’s the longest story of the set at 51 minutes, the rest are approximately 45 minutes.
There’s a small line in there that’ll throw some more chaos into the UNIT dating conundrum for those interested in such things!

Tempest was really good. It’s not a story that’ll set the world alight, but it’s still very much a novelty to get a completely standalone and original story from this range, eight series in. Although... The male sound of the alien sounds uncannily like Nicholas Briggs’ Zygon voice, especially given the story is set around an oil rig in Scotland! It’s the sort of story that I think the UNIT series was made for. Kate & Osgood discovering new life and attempting to resolve any issues with a scientific approach - “Science leads Kate!” - and a bit of politics and ethics thrown in for good measure. It’s the type of story that couldn’t sustain entire sets, certainly not eight of them, but it’s nice to strip UNIT back to basics every so often.
