what else would you eat on pancake day! pancakes, proper ones! not the horrid American style (sorry U.S. buddies) that taste like eating a sponge (unless you drown them in syrup! so no go for me as a diabetic) Glad you enjoyed your pancakes. As an American, I have to say I'm not sure what an American style pancake is, though. I've seen many types of pancakes in the US and many different recipes. Some are good, others, not so good. But that's probably true for any food anywhere, depending on the recipe.

We have crepes here in the US too. We can make them savory (with meat, vegetables, or cheese) or sweet (with Nutella, Fruit, Powdered Sugar, etc). I love them.
Anyways I do enjoy pancakes every once and awhile but I am more of a French Toast fan myself.
And note I have eaten pancakes plain.

Bisquick is a convenience product sold in the US that can be used for making pancakes, rolls, and basically any baked good that requires flour with certain additional ingredients that are helpful for baked goods. My mother used to use it, but I don't remember if she used it for pancakes. I know she used it for other things. I personally never use the stuff. And I wouldn't assume that all or even most pancakes in the US are made with Bisquick.

I make pancakes from scratch EVERY TIME. No foolish Bisquick flap jacks around here. And I also make crepes from scratch as well. Just sayin'.

My wife and I both cook, but I do more cooking. But she has some recipies that are just... damn.
She's downstairs preparing a shepard's pie to put in the oven. Holy instantly-banable-language, it smells GOOD! I'll be stuffing myself silly with it in about 50m.
