Folks I can get a local company to knock out mugs with our logo as it is printed on them with Divergent Universe for around £4.00 if we go below 100 units, and also do embroided shirts in various sizes, colours (Haynes/Froot of the Loom) for between £7 and £25 dependent on style, type etc. I may just get some mugs done as Christmas presents to see what they are like as freebies to test the quality I will keep you posted. The company say that they can ship worldwide as well for a lot cheaper than for example DPD, Fed Ex, Royal Mail, as they have a service to service contract with a company owned in the UK by UPS, so for example 1 mug shipped in around a week from UK to US would work out around $15.00 Australia around the same although they can ship in quantity to one address for onward shipping if we wanted. Does sound interesting. How's the shipping work? Is it high for the mug cause of the weight? Or is it calculated by item price? Though I guess it's less than Spreadshirt shipping charges, which I just looked at for comparison. I wonder if this a better option than using a print-to-order company like Cafepress or Spreadshirt.

It certainly sounds like it should be investigated and see if it's feasible. I'd have a DU logo mug (after saying I didn't like it, it's kind of grown on me . Badges as well (great for conventions). Cheers Tony

Cheers Tony I'd definitely get a mug. Especially if it's a nice big mug. I like a big mug for my cup of coffee. I'd get a t-shirt, too. And, yeah, badges for conventions are a great idea. Come to think of it, it would be nice to have a template to print out flyers or cards to let people know about us at conventions and such.

Probably will only go to one day of it (Sunday) cause of my work schedule, but I plan to be there and would hand something out if I had flyers or something about our forum.

A bit too expensive for my tastes. And I'm not that taken with the designs either.
As for calendars:
Traditionally, calendars are a gamble for a lot of companies. It's very hard to predict demand - there's often a small number of very vocal fans who want one, but beyond that, who knows? If it's something the company plans for as a promotional item, that's one thing - they'll give them away or charge very little for them. But for to make money on... they can get stuck a with a lot of unsold product and a financial hit.

I love the idea of DU mugs, etc. I would certainly buy one.
And I think badges/handouts for conventions are a must. And ribbons for US cons. I had no idea what they were until LI Who. Now I think it would be a great idea!

That way people can order if they want something without the financial outlay from the Admin team. I know you can make a bit of money from selling with Zazzle (not much, but it could go into a pot to help pay ongoing forum costs). Of course we'd have to have a definite design, but I don't think the DU logo is going anywhere soon . Cheers Tony

I think it started at Gallifrey then transferred to other cons Even some of the guests get into it which is fun.

Maybe I'm just not noticing. But I haven't been to a con that's Doctor Who only. I definitely have seen people handing out printed materials. Postcards, flyers, and the like.

You would see it at Gallifrey, Chicago Tardis, Li Who etc. You get a lot of cross cross between the Doctor Who events. The organizers are friends and while I only attend the one many people attend multiple. Not really sure how it got started but it's a fun little tradition.

I'll avoid looking like a Big Finish employee, but the Eighth Doctor companions shirt is fantastic. Although it would probably confuse everyone who sees it who isn't in the know.

I'm going to be upfront about this: I don't have the money for this - most of my money goes into helping me with my disability. Sorry, guys
