Didn't it take a year for Big Finish to release Ravenous 1 after Doom Coalition 4 ended in 2017 if I remember correctly? Although you're right, there were only 6 months between Dark Eyes 4 and Doom Coalition 1. Since they already have a title for the next series it would be really nice if it came as soon as possible. Since there's a new spin-off with Liv coming in December I'm dreading she might die at the end of the next box set. We'll just have to wait and see. I think they are just on a roll with McGann here and sure want to keep that ball rolling.
But as I said above, I am attending the German Who convention in October, and Jason will be coming, and I will be outing myself as the absolute uber-fan and ask a few pesky questions. Maybe there will be some announcements. Or at least some obscure news worth sharing.
I'll admit going from 20 episodes or so in a year to "just" 2 box sets the following year would really make me sad. He's my favorite Doctor after all and I just want him to keep coming with new episodes. Lucky you if you succeed, I couldn't get anything from Jessica Martin, Nicola Bryant or any of the guests I met last July at the London Comic Con.

But this October is strategically placed, so there is hope. and yeah, it would make me sad, too. The ongoing 8th Doctor series has been my personal highlight the past couple of years. And the reason I became a BF fan in the first place. But I honestly do not believe we get less than 3 8th Doctor sets next year. Not when you have listened to the release interviews lately.

Yeah, same thing for me. I discovered Big Finish 3 years ago while waiting for the episode The Return of Doctor Mysterio. McGann almost instantly became my favorite incarnation ever along with Colin Baker (a month or two after McGann I think) and even though I loved his Main Range episodes, his last EDA series and Dark Eyes, its really Doom Coalition and Ravenous which I adore and consider to be some of the best Whoniverse stuff ever. Without the Eighth Doctor I also would not have discovered ranges like The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield too, so that's another reason why I love him so much. And yeah, McGann seems to have been enjoying his Big Finish stuff a lot more in the past few months. I can't believe it took him that long but I'm reaaaaally happy that we can finally get pictures of him posing with his friends lately.

Haha, yeah, when you listen to the early extras or even the audio commentary of the TV movie, McGann sounds as if they got a random person off the street who wandered in by accident and now desperately tries to find a way out. It is especially obvious in the DVD commentary, where he must have been press-ganged into this by Nick and Sylvester and it is actually quite amusing listening to it in hindsight. Hard to believe that this is the same person. He really has taken charge now and hearing how much joy he seems to get out of it is kind of infectious.
He got as excited as a little kid about working with his idol Derek Jacobi, just made me smile listening to it.

Well, let's hope he's ready to do a lot of episodes for years to come then. I don't know what will happen after Time War 4, will we get other box sets? His Doctor is still really far away from the broken man we have recently heard in Lies in Ruins. As long as he remains that excited and one of the absolute best actors to have been cast in the role, I will keep buying. I still have a lot of Big Finish audios to buy to complete my Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctor collections but I have bought every Eighth Doctor episodes in the last 3 years.

Why not, this wouldn't surprise me, knowing Big Finish.

I like the idea of a finale special, but I don't see Big Finish drawing all their Time War ranges together like if that if they weren't going to bring all the ongoing stories to a close. It would seem a bit anticlimactic if all their ranges converged into one last story and then the ranges kept going on their own. A collective finale should spell the end of ongoing Time War stories for Big Finish (in my opinion), and I simply don't think they're going to do that. The Time War is such a profitable idea that it would be crazy to stop producing stories set in that period, and to bring everyone together for a special story only to split them up again afterwards and continue feels a bit pointless. That's just my view, anyway.

Right guys. I just had a little chat with Jason. So this is directly from the horses mouth so to speak. He told me they still have not decided on the new pricing and it will take at least another couple of months until we hear more and until the prices go up. But they will definitely go up because it is just not sustainable. Which I understand.

I know we've not had any updates yet but with Brexit apparently getting delayed once again, I don't think the prices will change until after 31 January 2020 now?

He told me they still have not decided on the new pricing and it will take at least another couple of months until we hear more and until the prices go up. But they will definitely go up because it is just not sustainable. Which I understand. I totally understand, but it's just not sustainable for me as a customer and where I'm personally at these days with choices for disposable income. I'm not in it for the collectible appeal and I'm so past the point of Doctor Who saturation that it's very rare to see something that strikes me as a "must-listen" vs. "another story by the same names that might be cool to check out at some point." Even then, I'm in no rush and can wait for reviews and sales when it comes to audio Doctor Who. Seeing the Legacy of Time digital version "re-released" at a cheaper price w/o extras shortly after I'd paid full price left me a bit annoyed.
I was incredibly excited about the BF Original release of Transference, but could not bring myself to spend $34.00 USD even though I enjoy BF's level of production quality, the cast and creative team. I waited a few months and used an Audible promotional offer to get the same digital download for $6.95 (80% cheaper!!!!). I'm really enjoying it (about to start the final chapter) but have to say that it's just not $34.00 good to my ears, especially when there's no shortage of other affordable audio drama out there to discover - plenty of which are offered as free professional podcasts with impressive celebrity casts. It's a lot more appealing to sit through an ad or two than to shell out a lot of money for something I'm realistically only going to listen to once or twice. I enjoy the work, but my personal situation means I'm already priced out and this upcoming change will seal the deal.
It's been a great run for me as a customer these past 20 years. But unless there are plenty of sales and/or a competitively-priced streaming option in the works, I have to stretch my limited entertainment funds elsewhere. That's not meant as a dig in any way toward the company or disrespecting other customers. More power to you if you're still enjoying it and can afford to keep up. Just sharing one perspective, not meant in a moaning way. I do wish them the best.

After all, there are already plenty of jokes out there along the lines of: "It is the year 2345. Earth has united under the banner of the United Federation of Planets. The only remaining member of the EU, Great Britain, is still debating if they want to leave the EU and join the UFP."

Just sharing one perspective, not meant in a moaning way. I do wish them the best. I think it is exactly because of long term customers like you that they take so long to work this out. They cannot afford to alienate their core fan base. And when listening to Jason, when you read between the lines.... they had certainly over-reached themselves as a company having too many expensive productions going at the same time, so they need to cut back. I actually do not think it will be a massive price increase, they cannot afford that.
However, who knows what will happen with Brexit? You could as well try to predict the outcome of a chainsaw fight in a tornado.
Maybe they stay, maybe the leave, maybe the pound crashes completely, maybe the Union breaks apart and leaves little England as a new third world country.
Who could tell? That will have a big impact on if and how long BF can survive and what they dare to ask from their customers.

Thanks for these last few posts, both of you. It really brings home the perspectives from both sides.
Let’s hope BF find a balance through all this!

Thinking about this, surely the weaker £ because of brexit helps them?
Take Transference. When the £ was at $1.40 a few years ago, selling it at $34 would have got them £24.29
Now the £ is around $1.29 (and has been below $1.20 not that long ago) $34 would get them £26.37.
So, where BF is an importer or relying on imported goods (physical CDs), the weak £ has pushed their costs up, but where they are an exporter the weak £ should be helping them
