Well this went awry. When I asked the question, I was only asking about Big Finish stories Whoops, The Butcher of Brisbane and The Gathering would be the Big Finish ones. Butcher's fantastic, I think Marc Platt had a lot of fun with it. The Fifth Doctor teeth-to-teeth with the world of Mad Max and we get to meet the mind behind the time cabinet in Talons.

Butcher of Brisbane is creepy - because as far as I can tell from the geography, Greel’s lab is my brother’s old workplace, which is currently a hospital.

I think I know the one you're talking about too. I remember sitting at the top of Jacob's Ladder looking down towards the bottom of the city when I was listening through it the first time. {Spoiler}My thought at Tegan's realisation by "Part One" was that snow is deep. Very deep.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Is this a Launceston on that mainland I'm unaware of (Google offers nothing), or are you referring to the Tasmanian Launceston? If so: 1) I had no idea any Doctor Who story had taken place in Tasmania!; 2) That's where I currently live, so that would be awesome Yeah the Missing Adventure "Goth Opera" has a bit set in Launceston, Tasmania. Note to the author Paul Cornell : Tasmania is known by all and sundry as "Tassie" and not "Tassy". Also, Tegan said at the end about being "back in Aussie" when the terminology used by all antipodeans is "back in Oz". I've lived in Australia all my life and have heard almost nobody referring to it as "Oz" who wasn't from somewhere else or on TV ☺️

Come on BF make it happen, how about The Doctor meets Shane (aussiedoctorwhofan) & battles the Daleks. Adelaide Of The Daleks (groan).... The Doctor shows up next weekend for the historic opportunity of seeing Carlton in a grand final... (lifelong Blues fan here, feeling the karma from making Collingwood jokes all through the 80s)

Tegan would have the Doctor traap whoever took the Beaumont Children in a crystal ball, like he did with the Carrionites, I love Adelaide as a city but it deserves to be more than the Beaumonts, and the 1973 Adelaide Oval abductions.

We have the time Boy George and Culture Club met down Rundle Mall in the city and about 50,000 (?) people showed up- LOTS of young ones skipped school to go. My best mates older sister was 1 of those.. She still is a fan to this day LOL

Not quite the same thing but when I wrote Tactics of Defeat I was keen to have an Australian voice to counterpoint with Daphne Ashbrook. I also thought it made a change for it to always be a Brit that's under alien influence. In the end Ian Atkins was worried it might give us casting problems, so I removed the explicit references to Australia. It was left to Helen Goldwyn to see who she could cast. In the end I thought Matthew Brenher did a decent job of sounding like he had been from Australia, though I'd be interested in the view of some actual Australians!

Is everyone trying to forget about 'Dreamtime' or is it some mystic influence at work?

Is everyone trying to forget about 'Dreamtime' or is it some mystic influence at work? We was trying to forget it, obviously! Thanks for spoiling it and forcing it back in to our consciousness.

"The Beaumont Children are living happily on a distant planet" has to be one of the more out there theories i've read on the Internet. In the Whoniverse, to preserve the timeline and appease Tegan, it could be a way of saving their lives.

Is everyone trying to forget about 'Dreamtime' or is it some mystic influence at work? That one I'm not sure about. I guess so...? It's a chunk of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park from Earth, so geologically speaking... yeah. Yeah? Yeah, I believe it qualifies. There's a belief that anything removed from Uluru and its surrounds becomes cursed. I don't think the Anangu -- the custodians of the land -- believe in it, but it is disrespectful to take bits of the land. There's a fine of $8500 fine for those that do. Anyone who circumvents it, well, it's known that more than 300 tourists each year, from all over the world, return their souveniers via post. Usually having experienced a run of seriously bad luck. Car accidents, robberies, attacks, financial strife, that sort of thing. The receivers have nicknamed them "sorry rocks". In that context, the entire formation being removed and placed on a starship is rather interesting.
Edit: Actually, I just had a rather interesting idea pop into my head. In the context of animism, the idea that all natural objects and the universe itself have spirits, logically that would include mineral and oil deposits in the earth itself. Those materials are refined and transformed into things like plastics, industrial-grade metals and so on. If those component parts were used to assemble a space station, does that mean that similar spirits occupy it? Watching over their astronauts? I wonder...
