This is the exchange I had with Big Finish on the Book of Faces: Me: Guys, I know there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on with the roll-out of the new web site but accessing episode one of Bloodline, if you purchased the volume 1 & 2 bundle, is really convoluted and unless I’m missing something, totally impossible to download and listen via the BF app. Surely making things easier to access and listen was one of the priorities behind the redesign, yes? Big Finish Productions: Unfortunately our timings have not been ideal for this release - we needed the new website to be live before we could make the necessary updates within the app to make extra content downloadable... This is a work-around - we had to do the same thing with Bloodlust. Our database is configured to support content which is all released at the same time (99.9% of the time this is the case) - hence the fudge. As I say, we are currently looking into other ways to make this work better...
I post this because I think this is good customer interaction. It is apologetic in tone, direct as in why we are at where we are and an acknowledgment the issue is being worked on. I may not like the hoops needed to listen to the audio but I respect the way Big Finish responded to me.

Not if you keep scrolling down The numbers disappear!!! Looks like the demarcation line is...when a release's cover art is made public/official? That's a bit odd. I can kind of understand why they'd remove the numbers, though. On the surface at least, it's a lot less daunting to a prospective new customer to see "Doctor Who: Whatever" than it is to see "Doctor Who: MR #275: Whatever." It suggests (correctly, for the most part) that you can jump in anywhere, without worrying about the literally hundreds of previous releases.

Ugh, I cannot download files twice a week and manually upload via iTunes on my phone. I'm sorry, I have been looking forward to this for years at this point, I am livid, no matter how nice they are on their email. This is ridiculous. So from the exchange I can't tell if it will be fixed, or I just have to wait for the bundled one to come out? And then miss the fun of speculation.

Looks like I can download them to Dropbox using my phone, and if I buy another app, I can unzip them on Dropbox and maybe play them there.

Only the unreleased items are numbered when I click on that link. Are you seeing something different when you click on the link? Seeing the same as you. Didn't scroll all the way down earlier.

Yes, sadly I think it's only the unnamed future releases which are numbered. I like release numbers on the larger ranges and find them useful. As others have commented, I wish the cheery green 'You've Got This' spot would also appear on pre-ordered releases on the 'What's New' pages when you're logged in, that's my main entry point for pre-orders.
Agreed. I use the What's New pages the same way.

Yet another bug on the website, it seems. It is not showing any Weekend special offers. Come on Big Finish! Let's hope they get it fixed by Monday 23:59 GMT.

That’s not necessarily a bug - maybe there just aren’t any offers this weekend.

Starring Catherine Tate - natch.

And after years of BF trying to rebrand the Main Range as the Monthly Range...it's now the Monthly Adventures. It'll always be the MR to me, not having this new MA business.

Interestingly Wireless Theatre ( one of the U.K. s biggest independent audio production companies) has a website/ mobile site using a very similar template to BF, but it works much better and less scrolling by including pages. Go take a look.

Regarding numbering, I was just re-reading an email I got from Sue at Big Finish when I was having a problem buying the Book Club release. I also said I was having a hard time finding specific releases in my account and wished that they were numbered, as they had been before, as well as being able to filter in ways that had been possible before. She wrote that, "Numbering against releases will be reinstated on the website in coming weeks, as well as some of the missing account filters."
So seems like numbering will come back.

Say what you will about the new website (personally I find it utterly bland and generic), but at the end of the day practicality is key. And when doing the same old things now takes users/customers considerably longer to do, making the end user experience less enjoyable and less practical at accomplishing those same goals, that is a pretty huge failing so far, and really needs to be addressed posthaste.
Add to which, the new site currently seems incredibly unfavourable - promotion and highlighting wise - towards both already released, older material, and also towards any other license that isn't Doctor Who related. The ability for potential new customers to just browse releases on the website and discover the various things BF do outside of Doctor Who has taken a real hit with the new site, at least in my opinion.
Honestly I think the design being used for the new site is fundamentally flawed as far as Big Finish's specific needs go, and they would have been far better off going with a hub design in my opinion, but it is what it is now, so I just hope they can wrestle what they have into better shape and a far improved user experience than it currently has.
