Both links go to the same place. The "Twitter version" does not show the link on Twitter. Just sayin'.

This is the exchange I had with Big Finish on the Book of Faces: Me: Guys, I know there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on with the roll-out of the new web site but accessing episode one of Bloodline, if you purchased the volume 1 & 2 bundle, is really convoluted and unless I’m missing something, totally impossible to download and listen via the BF app. Surely making things easier to access and listen was one of the priorities behind the redesign, yes?Big Finish Productions: Unfortunately our timings have not been ideal for this release - we needed the new website to be live before we could make the necessary updates within the app to make extra content downloadable... This is a work-around - we had to do the same thing with Bloodlust. Our database is configured to support content which is all released at the same time (99.9% of the time this is the case) - hence the fudge. As I say, we are currently looking into other ways to make this work better...I post this because I think this is good customer interaction. It is apologetic in tone, direct as in why we are at where we are and an acknowledgment the issue is being worked on. I may not like the hoops needed to listen to the audio but I respect the way Big Finish responded to me. So we can't listen to bloodline through the app?? Ugh, I cannot download files twice a week and manually upload via iTunes on my phone. I'm sorry, I have been looking forward to this for years at this point, I am livid, no matter how nice they are on their email. This is ridiculous. So from the exchange I can't tell if it will be fixed, or I just have to wait for the bundled one to come out? And then miss the fun of speculation. And it's fixed by episode two.

Ooh here's a feature I miss: the multiple range navigations at the bottom of a release page. Like how, say, The Jago and Litefoot Revival would have a "next Short Trips", a "next Tenth Doctor Collected", a "next Jago and Litefoot"...
Now it's just "next in this range".

I have mixed views on the new site, tending much more towards negative than positive. It would have frustrated me so much more a few years ago when I began buying from BF. Then I was a regular/daily site visitor, eyes drawn first to the latest news on the home page in case of a new sale, otherwise using the ranges page to browse or quickly find items.
Now news is much less prominent and the collections feature and overall layout is going to take a while to get used to.
Fortunately I'm not going to be hugely affected. I'm not the target audience anymore. I've now got almost everything released so far so my site visits have been much less frequent over the last year. The days of daily visits and multiple orders per month are behind me. It's this site that I visit daily and get any BF news I need, with a BF order once every month or two for recent/upcoming box releases, and occasional very large pre-order when there's large savings to be had like super subs or special mass bundle offers or that time there was 10% off everything.
On the old site my go to page had become What's New, which on my iPhone screen nicely displayed all the months new releases with small cover images and minimal scrolling required. I could quickly go back and forward through the months and click into releases to read more if needed, or add to an order.
If asked my one request for the What's New page would have been to have it indicate titles I already owned. In the absence of that feature I used to do a site search for nothing and get a nice long list of every single title. This did have a purchased indicator and on my small phone screen was quick to load and compactly presented. I'd sort by release date and scan down through the last month or two or through upcoming months looking for titles with no green banner.
The old site just worked very well for me. It was familiar and easy.
First impressions of the site last week were I didn't like it. It's not growing on me yet. It's very poor on my phone. I'd rather be seeing lots of releases listed on screen at a time with small cover images. Now there's a lot more scrolling required as only one title at a time fits on the screen.
Layout is slightly better on my tablet, at least I get two columns of information on there. Still the images are far too big. On my large tablet screen I get just four release images per screen. I used to manage just fine viewing the ranges page on my small phone screen, 16 ranges (might even have been 20) on screen at a time.
Tonight I took advantage of the change/glitch that has pre-orders getting the 10% discount. Piled almost everything that's coming soon (and which is cheaper with the discount than in a bundle) into a massive order. 15 box sets bought this time, over the next couple of months I'll get orders in for bundles where that remains the cheapest option. So in the months ahead I'll have even less cause to visit the site unless there are more new titles announced.
Regarding the order, I think the new basket facility is nice and had no issues with completing the order. It was just such a slow process trying to seek out upcoming releases I had still to buy. What's New is not nearly as usefully or compactly laid out now that it has larger cover images and a blurb for each release. Give me a page that just lists the titles please.
Worse, search no longer allows a search for nothing. So gone is the useful facility to see all releases together then filter as required.
Tonight's order would have taken a fraction of the time to complete on the old site.
I'm curious to play with the search facility to see what it is doing too. When not doing empty searches I typically search with just a word or two and that used to work fine. Intending to add the recent Eighth of March to my order tonight I decided to use the search rather than try to locate it myself. I felt "march" would be the best search criteria, but that puts the release I was after 12th in the results list. I'm sure it'll be helpful at some point that search is more than just a search on release title but I'd have though title matches might be shown first in search results. Maybe I was just on a hiding to nothing trying to locate a title which contains a doctor ordinal and the name of a month!
I'll probably get used to the new site, possibly I'll find ways to do what I need to do quicker or easier. I'm not sure the layout as it is now will ever seem to me like the improvement it's intended to be.

I went ahead and made www.bigfinish.com/news as my browser's BF bookmark because this new site design hides things people might want to know, like say, the current flash sale on recent DW main range releases...

Is anyone else having trouble saving cards I’ve done it twice now and the card still isn’t saving?? Usually I get texted a code number from my bank that I have to input in Sagepay in order to proceed with a purchase but this doesn't seem to be happening on the new site. This, taken together with the site remembering card details, makes it feel less secure to me.

Just letting you guys know since I had quite a bit of email traffic today with Big Finish. This is especially for international customers.
They still have some issues with PayPal.
I had bought the Flashsale items and was charged not the 1:1 conversion, but the Euro equivalent in pounds. Maybe they had the new conversion implemented too early? This has been going on for a couple of days now and they are trying to fix it ASAP. I did not even notice that there was a problem until I got the refund email from Big Finish- so they are really onto it and pretty fast, too.
Just in case some of you got charged too much and worry if you get your money back- it seems to be under control at least.

So the days of the numberless MR are (drum roll) numbered...

That's definitely neater and hopefully they will appear numbered like this on the index page soon. Then I'm going to scroll through the whole lot (cup of tea, listen to a box set, another cup of tea, done finally! ), order them all by release date and save the whole page so I have a quick reference MR index page to scan through, with all the active links to each release.

I think others have alluded to the same, but one thing that's kind of bugged me, is on pages where they list the latest-and-greatest, if I've bought a collection, box set, etc... the site isn't smart enough to tell me that I own the individual titles. At this point, there is little that I have not bought or pre-ordered, so it's not much of a concern, but in the past it was, at times, a little annoying. I'm talking about the website, I don't even have an app-able device.
I had recently added another year to my Main Monthly Range subs, and I was rather hoping with the new site that I might be able to go another year to two further, alas, not yet.
I probably saw some mention of it but it didn't really register with me, regarding 2000AD having been dropped. A couple of years ago I bought all the available downloads of that line. I'd listened to a couple of them here and there, some time ago. The other day I found myself listening to a couple more and was wondering if they fit somewhere in a chronology, so I thought I'd look it up on the BF site. Uh, well, they are still listed, and still part of my download tally, but not very easy to find. I'm not really dissing on BF for this though, because I can totally understand why someone would not want titles they no longer sell to be on the storefront. But since I am a purchaser of such items, it would be nice if the site was smart enough to know this and like, have the range show up when I try to filter my downloads. I looked to see if I could download them again (I don't need to, I have my content backed up nicely) and the only way I could find them was to list all my downloads in chronological order and pick them out as they slotted in.

Well it’s been a bit now since the revamp and I have to say I am far from impressed .......
The site is almost unusable on my phone, it’s next to impossible to find the news on there, and it’s just scrolly scrolly scrolly......
It’s ok on my iPad, but is a pain waiting for next items to load, and it takes a lot longer to load up.....it takes about 20 seconds to load on phone now where before it was a couple of seconds......
Instead of increasing my visits to the site, I canna be arsed with it now.......
Bad move, bad design, less useable........ And with this move to announcing on social media for new stuff.......and making it feel like us who don’t do social media customers feel second best....... There’s not even the Twitter links any longer......
I’m thinking it might be the end of my undying loyalty I will see the twenty years out, the crappy way they been dealing with policy changes, crappy pod cast, perminant hiatus for some titles without proper explanation, Are all just adding up........
anyone else beginning to feel the same
