There is only 3 Sanity music stores in Adelaide now, all on the other side of town! I found them way too expensive. Unfortunately pretty much every other music store has closed to the juggernaut that is JB Hifi- to be fair their cd/dvd/bluray prices are getting a bit cheaper now.. We've got a Sanity and a JB Hi-Fi in my area, but we're not quite sure how the Sanity stays open. The JB Hi-Fi prices are the best I've seen in my life, and when you consider inflation's supposed to happen that's quite a big deal. I used to be loyal to Sanity as it was the best outlet where I grew up, but then I saw reason and jumped ship to JB. I can't tell you how much money I've saved on TV/moves/music since... JB Hifi is literally a 5 min drive from my house- it's near the cinemas as well. They had a xmas sale a few years ago on BBC Torchwood/Doctor Who etc audio cds.. Like 80% off. I bought them all basically..they are sitting in a box in 1 of my bedrooms. I should catalogue them and post on here. I even picked up Tommy B's "A Xmas Carol" too

Does anyone know if there's any difference between the DVD and Blu-ray special features? Or is there going to be no difference between them? The only info I can find just lists all the special features, not which release has them. I only ask because I know there was exclusive content on the Blu-ray for The Macra Terror (but it was just Gridlock and its corresponding Doctor Who Confidential from what I understand). I'm looking at pre-ordering it tomorrow when I go to pick up my copy of Season 26 and want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything good. To be fair though, I'm probably going to get the DVD to go with the family's collection anyway*. I'll get the Blu-ray and whatever additional features it might have eventually when they release the Season 4 Blu-ray set, but I'm curious all the same. *I just realised that in a few years I'll be buying the animations on Blu-ray so I can slot them into my then-complete Blu-ray collection. I guess everyone else can buy their own DVD copy at that stage

They seem to have dropped that now after realising they were really just giving us a bonus disc of things any fan who's interested enough already has. Shada's steelbook did have elusive content - the 1992 Tom museum recon on blu and McGann's web Shada flash animation on disc for the first time ever (even the Shada DVD was just a link to watch it online, the bluray actually lets you just watch it)

Was it a thing Amazon was forking out for previously and don't want to any more (the steelbooks were all Amazon exclusives as far as I know)? I'm not sure I know what the Tom museum thing is. Is that the version of Shada they included in the DVD box set with More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS? I'm aware of a couple of the webcast things (I think they did Death Comes to Time, Real Time, and McGann's Shada) but I've never seen any of them. I wonder if we'll get them on the McGann/Wilderness Years Blu-ray set? Let's face it, if they're going to do one they'll need all the content they can get to make the set as expansive as the rest of the Season Collections.

Amazon's exclusive steelbooks are only the new series ones, and then only Series 1 and 9-12, the animation steels are on wider release through Zavvi, HMV, Zoom etc. I think the reason they stopped is just profit - they were printing bonus discs with content that anyone who wanted it would have more than one already. How many buying Macra Terror who also Gridlock wouldn't have just picked up S2 years ago? Made sense when there was exclusive content. Yes, the DVD Shada - the one with Tom relaying linking narration, kinda in character...except for when he isn't! Don't see any issue including Shada's webcast since they already have. Real Time was a co-production with BF of course so I'd hope something can be worked out there. Death Comes To Time is an odd beast but quite fantastic in places. It's almost like it seeped in from an alternate timeline where BF didn't happen and we got full cast stories from the BBC who wanted a much more Virgin New Adventures take on the stories. Lovely soundtrack though....and it got Stephen Fry onboard as The Minister Of Chance.

I think they’re now so far down the line with the animations that fans who have the steelbooks will continue collecting them, exclusive bonus disc or otherwise. The Shada one was fun, but the Macra Terror disc didn’t have anything new; not even the full length Confidential for Gridlock.
I think the artwork is gorgeous and am happy to pay the prices. They’re only a couple of quid dearer than Disney steelbooks for a brand new production and features. And I say that as someone who avidly collects the Pixar films on steelbook and the Walt Disney Classics on O-Ring!
For Power of the Daleks, I got the standard DVD too to fit in with the range, but for Shada I decided the 2013 release was still fine. Since The Collection has kicked off, I’ve not bothered with the DVDs of Macra, Faceless Ones and Fury from the Deep.

My steelbook was waiting for me after work in a big (really too big!) box along with the new Criterion Anatomy Of A Murder bluray.
Jimmy Stewart and Pat Troughton in one delivery. That's a Box Of Delights indeed, to paraphrase Pat's great last hurrah!

Thanks for posting. Quite an honest review and kind of sums up why I haven't ordered it yet.

So I'm trying to decide which version of this to import, the DVD or the Blu-Ray. I have a region free DVD player, but only a Region A Blu-Ray player. Does anyone know if the Blu-Ray is region free?

Is anyone aware of any alterations in the animated version? While they made a big deal about the excised scene in The Macra Terror, there were many other small edits/alterations made to the original soundtracks. I was just wondering if there was anybody here who knows the original Faceless Ones well enough to know if they've done similar things this time? (If not, I've heard it about 20 times myself, so I might give a rundown of anything I think they've changed when I get it early-mid April )

Possibly related to wider events, but seems to be some issues with the availability of this. I pre-ordered the steelbook with Amazon last June. The order changed last week to having a delivery date of yesterday (Monday) but that then changed to an unknown delivery date. From comments I’ve seen on Facebook seems many are still waiting on this from Amazon.
I should have gone with Zoom who seem to have managed to get their pre-orders out. Can’t even just cancel the Amazon order and buy elsewhere like Zoom as its showing as out of stock or not even listed on other vendors I’ve checked.
