It's nearly the end of the year - and what a year it has been. A classic tale reimagined, Damaged Goods given terrible voice, a beloved TARDIS team reunited, the return of three classic villians, Nyssa's tragic exit, Ben Jackson and The Third Doctor given new voice, a classic cliffhanger revisited, the Companion Chronicles return, the end of Molly's O'Sullivan's journey, The Eleven's horrific debut and The Sixth Doctor's death is given gravitas - and Big Finish purview of Doctor Who expands to the revival series....
Can anyone else quite believe it that Strax was in Jago and Litefoot this month? That Big Finish are progressing Torchwood?
So, how do you feel about this year's releases? What do you feel was the best release? Your favourite?

I'd say my highlights have been Doom Coalition, Blakes 7 series 2 and Survivors series 3. There have been other releases of varying quality but none that i would say have been totally awful.

This is just my opinion.
2015's been a mixed year for me with BF, probably the most mixed since 2004.
Positives
Damaged Goods
The Last Adventure
Doom Collation
Elliot Chapman
Torchwood
J&L and Strax
War and 10th Doc due soon.
Bafflement/Disappointment.
Now don't get me wrong I respect everyone who works at BF and like everyone I've met but:
The Closure and Handling of the BF Forum still burns me.
The run of MRs leading up to 200 being so uneven and the fact it wasn't billed like "YES we've hit 200 MRs!" more like "So err yeath we've hit 200 MRs but never mind... we've got all this post 2005 stuff coming in the next 6 months"
If your going to run Twitter on Auto-Tweet change it more often. I've lost count of the times I've the link for the Sylvester vs Sycorax Casting for Classic Doctors new Boxset Boxset followed by "what about casting of the Colin vs Judoon part" Tweets.
I'll end on a positive that the next 6 months of BF Releases look really strong.
Regards

Not to mention Counter Measures 4, with that controversial ending....which, can I just add, I've not heard yet as I'm getting it for Christmas.

I find automated Twitter in general irritating, but this has been especially annoying.

Main Range: The Fifth Doctor E-Space trilogy started off badly, but improved dramatically for the other two stories. The first two Locum Doctors were underwhelming while the last one was brilliant. Seventh Doctor and Mel trilogy was interesting, but nothing spectacular. Sixth Doctor and Constance trilogy brilliant all round. Companion Chronicles: First Doctor Box Set highly interesting Fourth Doctor Adventures: While the first, seventh and eighth stories were underwhelming the rest were highly interesting, and in some cases innovative and a welcome break from the nostalgia the range has often indulged in. Novel Adaptations: Strong Short Trips: Nice little diversions Early Adventures: Welcome visits to little-used periods of the Second Doctor. Clear highlight is Elliot Chapman as Ben Jackson. Dark Shadows: Bloodlust was phenomenal, and the follow-up dramatic readings maintained the excellent quality of previous entries in the range. Jago & Litefoot: Consistently strong, with the Strax story a nice stand-alone. The Triumph of Sutekh is another highlight, a better overall story than the first volume of New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield and fantastic guest stars.

I know I am going to forget something. But
1) Loved the first 3 second Doctor Early Adventures. Fantastic tales all around and some of the best stories for the 2nd Doctor
2) This is Colin Baker & the Last Adventure a fitting tribute to Sixie.
3) The Eleven & especially the Red Lady in Doom Coalition
4) The Start of New Who releases with the 1st Unit Box and Jago and Litefoot Meet Strax.
5) The Locum Doctor Trilogy with special mention to the 5th Doctor one.
6) Great announcements both War Doctor & 10th and Donna
7) Although I am not caught up to the newest release yet on a personal level discovering and falling in love with the Dorian Gray range.
I would say I am most disappointed in the finale for the 4th Doctor Adventures. I was really excited for that but it wasn't what I hoped for at all. Oh well!
These are mostly from the later 1/2 of the year. I am probably forgetting stuff from earlier.

So, no mention of Tim Treloar's 3rd Doctor? I guess I'm not surprised, it was decent but nothing earth shaking for me. Right in the middle of the road for this year's releases for me.

I kind of forgot it. It was good and I will buy the next set but I wouldn't say it was a favorite release of the year.

1st Doctor - The Companion Chronicles box was quite nice. 2nd Doctor - The new Ben has been great, and The Black Hole has been a standout of the range thus far. 3rd Doctor - He's back! The first set was spectacular. I hope further releases live up to the quality. 4th Doctor - about half of the season got me excited. The rest of it was forgettable, or worse. The Novel Adaptions were all great though. Top notch stufff. 5th Doctor - The E-Space Trilogy was interesting, and I quite liked The Secret History. 6th Doctor - The Last Adventure set was just great, and Constance seems to be shaping up to be a pretty good companion. 7th Doctor - The 7/Mel trilogy was well written and acted, if a little uneventful, and The Triumph of Sutekh was pretty great, as was Damaged Goods. 8th Doctor - Dark Eyes 4 was easily the best set of the range, and Doom Coalition is shaping up great. elsewhere - Iris Reloaded was good, Jago & Litefoot kept their quality up, Counter-Measures gave us a gripping cliff-hanger to be resolved, and nu-UNIT gave us a decent, if rather average, first outing. Torchwood's been pretty good, and I haven't listened to Vienna. Dark Shadows has been all-round bloody spectacular. Oz was a bit of a let down. And I have yet to listen to any of BF's Blake's 7, Avengers, or Pathfinder releases. I think that about covers everything... Next year we're again set to get a little something from all eight of our Classic Doctors, but we'll also be getting some new adventures for Nine, Ten, Eleven and War via various sets and releases. What a time to be alive

Thoughts regarding the past year at Big Finish:
The good: I keep thinking about the conversations on the forum at the start of the year wondering if the license would be extended, and now look at the extended license for classic and NEW Who and the abundance of releases coming from BF! The former BF forum users demonstrating just how much we need to talk to each other. The creation and ongoing success of this forum is just wonderful. Thanks to all involved. Recasting: For all the hand ringing and worry, I think both Tim Treloar and (especially) Elliot Chapman have been wonderful. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them.
The bad: The way the closing of the BF forum was handled. I'm as disappointed in the decisions that went into that debacle as I am impressed with this forum.
As for the product: My favorite Doctor Who releases of 2015: Doom Coalition (with a shout out to John Dorney for the amazing Red Lady) , The Last Adventure, Equilibrium, 1st Doctor CC boxed set, Damaged Goods. My favorite Doctor Who spin-off releases of 2015: Jago & Lightfoot is consistently of high quality and a lot of fun, and even more so with Strax, Counter-Measures 4 was fantastic, I'm loving the entire Torchwood range, and I'm looking forward to more from the new UNIT. My favorite non-Who releases: Easy. Survivors, Dorian and Dark Shadows.
Looking forward to 2016!

I just finished listening to the Omega Factor, which had languished in my "recent" folder on my MP3 player for months. I thought it was quite good, and if they do another I'll definately get it. I quite liked Dorney's stint behind the microphone on this one as well, and Louise is always great.
I'd say the other highlights of the year for me, were Dark Eyes 4 and Doom Coalition 1, Countermeasures 4, anything with Jago and Litefoot in it, the new Iris box set, The Last Adventure, and the Colin Baker interview.
Worst of the year for me was Oz.

What a time to be alive I was going to say it seems like a really good time to be or become a Doctor Who fan. It's weird to sit down and realize that from January to January, every past Doctor including Michael Jayston and John Hurt will have had new adventures on audio. Like, we've had more Doctors on audio, and more content per Doctor, than the anniversary year. Just blows my mind.

The best releases of the year for me: Dark Shadows: Bloodlust. Believe the hype. It really is accessible for newbies. Funny, involving, intriguing, tragic, shocking....it's got everything you'd want. Gallifrey: Intervention Earth I felt Gallifrey had lost its way in the boxset era so it was nice to have a "reboot" of the range here. It had all the backstabbing and beatrayal you'd want from the range but in a fresh way. Jago And Litefoot Volume 9 Putting them on a world cruise was a great idea. It didn't feel gimmicky like their 60s expedition but felt "real" as Victorian gents would have been able to see Monte Carlo and Africa. It was a good way to give the boys some new context. Terrahawks 1 If you grew up with the show, this is essential. If you didn't? There's no better time to get on board. It's very much in the mould of the later part of the series. More humour but also with better characterisation of Zelda and Ninestein. Damaged Goods I'm critical of McCoy's idiosyncratic performances sometimes but he aced this. It was a perfect illustration of why BF should apapt the best of the books. Edgy, adult and unforgettable. Doom Coalition After the sprawling and messy Dark Eyes saga it was SO good to hear The Eighth Doctor having fun again. We Are The Daleks This is what Season 24 should have been like. The Last Adventure The perfect sendoff for someone who's not going anywhere Slight disapointments? Dark Eyes 4 not having Ruth Bradley, the really kinda awful last two 4DAs, more blandness from the older Nyssa arc, the Gareth Roberts adaptations and the biggie....the Locum Doctors. I was so looking forward to that. It was two misses and then oly a slight rebound for Secret History.

Sorry for being dense, which 2015 releases are you referring to in the 2 comments above? (Put the answer in spoiler tags if need be) The Fate of Krelos/Return to Telos and The Well-Mannered War (the novel was the final installment in Virgin's Missing Adventures series - new stories featuring Past Doctors. The ending itself is symbolic of the state Virgin Books were left in by the BBC - in which in light of the anticipated success of the TV movie and success of the novels, the BBC decided to rather uncermeniously let Virgin's licencise expire with little notice -a further missing adventure the reader will sadly never experience. Except we will! In 2017!) .

Well it certainly has been an eventful year.
So what do I appreciate?
2 - The Dignified Detectiing Duo, Jago & Litefoot just keep getting better
4 - The Fourth Doctor & Romana II in a trilogy of novel adaptations.
6 - The Sixth Doctor getting a proper Last Adventure
8 - The end of one enjoyable series and the beginning of another for the Eighth Doctor.
