Looking forward to see Evil of the Daleks in animation form. If only to see how they depict the Dalek Emperor and the Dalek’s supposed ‘Final End’

If only to see how they depict the Dalek Emperor and the Dalek’s supposed ‘Final End’ If it's the same team that did The Macra Terror, the mind gently boggles at the possibilities for Skaro itself. I wonder if they'll go all Ken Adam on the city itself and give us a labyrinth? I've still fond memories of the revisited Throne Room in More than 30 Years in the TARDIS...

Absolutely unsurprising and absolutely thrilling!!! With the completion of Evil, Abominable, and Web, we'll officially be able to watch every story from The Moonbase through to Fury from the Deep without having to use audio-only/recon options any more! That means: The MoonbaseThe Macra TerrorThe Faceless OnesThe Evil of the DaleksThe Tomb of the CybermenThe Abominable SnowmenThe Ice WarriorsThe Enemy of the WorldThe Web of FearFury from the DeepA 10-story run from the Troughton period!!! Seriously can't express just how exciting this is! Now they just need to hurry up and announce some release dates! Ooh I've got chills. They only need to do Wheel in Space - which I definitely would have guessed would come out before Abominable - and we'll have an ACTUAL FULL SEASON 5!

Just think - if they announce Wheel and Space Pirates for next year, we'll be able to watch from Moonbase right through to the end of Patrick's era! (Saying that, I've just realised that there are only four Troughton's not yet confirmed for animations - Highlanders, Underwater Menace, Wheel, and Space Pirates. We're living in a world where it isn't 100% impossible we'll have complete Patrick Troughton collections by the end of 2023! )

You know, I do wonder how they'll handle The Abominable Snowmen and its Asian characters.
It's one thing to release something like Planet of the Spiders or Talons of Weng-Chiang, time capsules from their respective eras, and another to painstakingly recreate yellowface characters over non-Asian actors' dialogue. It's a sort of damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't point, of course: if they, say, re-recorded dialogue with new actors, Classic Who purists would be up in arms. Yet I'm sure some people will be pretty angry if they *didn't* do something like that.
Don't know that I have an opinion one way or the other myself - but what do folks think?

That’s a great point actually; the different possibilities depending on which animation team are working are vast. The Macra Terror team would be perfect for Evil of the Daleks due to the scale and colour palette; I hope they’re on animation duty! Very exciting news for both releases. Amazing to think how expansive our Troughton collections are now.

Amazing to think how expansive our Troughton collections are now. Fingers crossed! The added benefit of The Evil of the Daleks's story is that Grim's Dyke Hotel where they filmed the Human Factor test with Jamie and Kemel still exists to this day. It's a very kinetic story, a lot of physicality from all the characters. In theory, you could take a pair of performers and a camera up to Middlesex and choreograph those scenes for animation. Fantastic, also, for moments like when the Daleks bomb the house as they leave. (Also, to explain an earlier point of reference: Ken Adam is a production designer who worked most distinctively in the 1960s and 70s. His name isn't widely known, but a filmgoer will probably recognise his work or a derivation of it in their viewing. He'd likely be best recognised as the man behind the oft-imitated volcano lair of SPECTRE in You Only Live Twice. That breathtakingly vast use of space. I think The Incredibles did a strong pastiche of his style. Evil's kind of the perfect story to go that extra visual step for sheer scale towards its end, if practicality permits.)

But the Toymaker is an immortal speaking in a very English style who just likes to dress up as a Mandarin because (presumably) he took a liking to the intricate culture of imperial China on a visit to Earth. EDIT: In fact I think he says that in 'The Nightmare Fair'.
In the same way as the classic Doctors (except Sixie and we won't go there ) all dressed more or less in the style of a Victorian/Edwardian gentleman; the style of the amateur gentlemen-scientists of that place and era would surely appeal.
EDIT AGAIN: I was posting at cross-purposes I think, still thinking about the accents characters use.

I was thinking about one specific line in it

I was thinking about one specific line in it Ah yes, I'd mentally edited that one out!! I came across the same line in a 'Dad's Army' episode on DVD recently - from Pike, the stupid boy. I was surprised they left it in.
Yes, a simple cut would be in order for 'Toymaker', if we get that animation. It would be very expensive to animate, with all the many characters/costumes that each only appear for a short time.

Total digression here, but my wife and I had avoided that nursery rhyme with our children but my eldest heard it at nursery school.
As he started to recite it to us, my wife and I exchanged apprehensive glances, but he went on ". . . . catch a tiger by the toe" and we breathed a sigh of relief.
So they could always overdub this modern, inoffensive version.

It was "tiger" when I was at nursery in the late 80s. I didn't even know about *that* version till it became one of the many, many times Top Gear got into trouble after Jeremy Clarkson used it, or mumbled it as he claimed.

They had narration over the word on the BBC soundtrack CD, so it's easy enough to obscure one word with something, or just replace it with Tiger... whatever is easier/cheaper.
But to avoid any potential issues maybe they should just forget about The Celestial Toymaker and animate The Daleks' Master plan !

they could always animate 6 episodes of Dalek Masterplan and release it as Part One and then release the next 6 for another dvd/blu ray release

It was ‘chicken’ for me back in the day. Makes as much sense as Tiger I guess.

But to avoid any potential issues maybe they should just forget about The Celestial Toymaker and animate The Daleks' Master plan ! It might even be as easy a fix as having the characters whistle it instead. That way, you wouldn't have to to worry too much about vocal matches. I actually wonder if Master Plan -- if released altogether or two apiece -- will end up being a joint collaboration between some of the different animation teams we've seen over the years. Some being responsible for characters, some for scenery, etc. It's a roughly five-hour Dalek romp with 90-minutes still surviving, leaving about, I want to say, approximately three-and-a-half hours of footage to animate.

That's if they wanted to use the existing episodes at all - doesn't seem to be the case these days, with only Web of Fear getting the partial animation treatment (for obvious 5-to-1 reasons). That would make it a full twelve episodes with tons of locations and characters. Which... yikes! I can see them cutting Feast of Steven down to a recon, that's for sure... Maybe they could make it more viable by making it a big Dalek celebration set. Including the remake of Mission to the Unknown is a no-brainer, but there's also the Daleks! series, lots of "pdf archive" stuff in amongst the Daleks Annuals and Dalek Books - plus maybe The Destroyers from The Second Doctor Lost Stories set, featurettes about that lost pilot, or the Curse of the Daleks stageplay, or a celebration of Terry Nation in general... like just pack it full of stuff so that Dalek fans have no choice but to buy it!!
