I have to say, I'm not seeing a lot of complaints. I've used the app on iOS and it works fine for me. Though I usually listen on my iPod, not my phone.

And this is why I don't use mobile Apps .
It can take months/years to get them to meet the customers needs then a few weeks later a mandatory update of a device's OS renders the App useless.
Regards
mark687 In all fairness, the old iOS/Android app was using some kind of wrapper. It was written in HTML,css, JavaScript, etc. A natively developed app should have less problems and be easier to maintain.

How do you remove a download from your phone after you've listened to it? I've looked all over the app and my iPhone settings and have seen no clue as to how to do it. It's getting a bit frustrating.

Apologies if this has already been asked, I couldn't find it in the thread anywhere; when is Android app expected to be available in the Play Store? My old version no longer works (sad) and I'm looking forward to getting the new one on my phone. Thanks.

The latest posts in this thread are all about it . I don't know if they are looking for more testers, but you could PM hackmodford and ask him (he is the developer). Cheers Tony

The more the merrier at this point. It's still early days, but it should be enough to keep you going at this point Build 11 fixes deleting an album that is currently playing.

A new thread has been started by hackmodford specifically for beta testers of the new Android app that is being developed. All relevant posts about the beta test have now been moved to the new thread, here. This thread is now reserved for general chat and questions about the Big Finish app (both released IOS and Android versions). Cheers Tony

Firstly, the app continues to be a pleasure to use. The search/filter functions, gapless playback, remembering where you stopped playing, the back 30 second button - all excellent. I typically only need to go back a few seconds when I've not heard something properly so a back 10 seconds button would be better than 30 seconds. I could just press it 2 or 3 times if I needed to go back longer. Perhaps the duration of the back or forward button could be something each user could set to their own preference?
I do have an observation relating to how the iOS app is handling storage though. I use it on my iPhone. There's not a lot of storage space free on it (~1GB) so I typically only download one or two titles at a time, listen, delete then download again.
Last night I finished listening to something and deleted it, leaving the app apparently with no downloaded titles. I set off the download for another title and a short while later I saw a notification that the download was complete. This morning I went to start listening to it but the device view was showing no titles on the device. Yet when I looked at the storage usage for it was showing as using over 700MB whilst apparently empty of titles.
I downloaded the title again. This time it did appear on the device list after downloading. After downloading the app's storage use grew to 1GB. It seems the only way to get this space back is to delete and reinstall the app so I did so. Newly installed and still empty it's storage was just 5.5MB.
I tried an experiment to see if deleting titles frees up space. I downloaded one title. Storage grew to 127MB. I deleted the title and storage reduced to 5.8MB. Hence it seems the deletion function works but I have a suspicion that when a download fails to work/complete it does so without freeing up used storage.
Last night was not the first time I've come to the app to find a download does not seem to have completed. It happened twice last week with Torchwood titles. So I'm thinking that the cumulative effect of such download failures is that over time grow and grow the app's storage and the only way to fix it is to reinstall it every so often.
So if this is something that is fixable that would also be great, though it takes just seconds to do a reinstall as and when required.

It sounds like the cache is filling up. The system should take care of the failed downloads eventually. In any case, thanks for the detailed info! I'll do some more digging when I get the time. I'm kinda swamped with Android at the moment

Worst case scenario. Try deleting the app and reinstalling. Does that fix it?

Worst case scenario. Try deleting the app and reinstalling. Does that fix it? It did, but wipes a considerable chunk of stories off my phone. Thank god for unlimited bandwidth.
