I am just happy we are getting 8 episodes at all 😊It’s a miracle they are going into production this soon with everything going on! I am sure how ever many we get they will be brilliant!

45-50 mins is NOT an hour. End of. Technically if it’s played on BBC America there is usually 10 mins of commercials that play so I think they count that as part of the runtime Yes overseas I believe that to be the case. & in other territories. Regardless I have seen nothing that convinces me this new shorter format of 8 episodes, due to COVID, will become the norm for Dr Who. Which is what all this stuff about running times alluded to, or formed part of an argument for.

Its seems quite reasonable and factual to me, to state that BBC1 does not show adverts and that the programme does not occupy a one hour time slot, except where it happens to be a 60 minute episode. The normal length of the current series is as you rightly state - 45 minutes (2005-2017) & 50 minutes (2018 - present). I may be classified as a one hour programme for scheduling overseas, due to advertising, but as far as its home territory is concerned, you are quite right. I myself have never seen it referred to as such either. Likewise the classic series was always 25 minute episodes and not 30 minutes. A look through the BBC1 listings for today and tomorrow will reveal a LOT of 45 programmes occupying a 45 minute time schedule.

Nothing exciting on 'Children in Need' just promotion for the "Win a Set Visit (Eventually)" contest, but I note that once again it was just Jodie and Mandip without the boys. I wouldn't expect confirmation until after the Xmas/New Year's special has aired but I hope we're finally back to a sensible number of companions (i.e. one) again.

So this touches on some worries here, but it got more brought to the fore when Council of Geeks made their video about S13 being 8 episodes. They expressed anxiety that it could (didn't say was) a smokescreen for future cancellation or otherwise, a sign of being wound down.
I find this frustrating because I get the anxiety - the ratings have been a rollercoaster the last few years, and with some in fandom (a loud minority) going on an on about various political boogeymen, it can feel precarious. To an untrained eye, or someone who was there in '89, it can look grim. However, aside from the covid issue, shorter runs are where the entire industry in hour-long (take it up with Piers Wenger if you don't like the definition. I don't make the rules) drama is heading. It's not a sign of a lack of support or faith in the show - indeed, if we take Wenger's past comments into consideration, Who is doing exactly what the Beeb want it to. Why would they bother with all the games and TLV if they didn't think Who was worth the effort? Why commit the expense, increased with all the safety measures, if they didn't think Who was long for this world? Where I sit, we're fine. Relax and just speculate if the Krotons or Mara'll be back - it's far better for your health.

Still no evidence that a show that averages 50 mins per episode is having its season run permanently reduced.

A pic of filming that’s doing the rounds. Looks like the Crimean War so probably the Mary Seacole episode.

I wish the shooting location hadn't been discovered now, as "fans" have taken it upon themselves to drop by to try and meet the cast without being concerned by any thoughts of getting production shut down due to violating Covid safety protocols.

Hands up who's surprised... Nobody? Nobody?
Didn't think so somehow.

Bit disappointed that the Resolution design seems to be the permanent Dalek design of the Chibnall era. It was fine as a one-off but I was hoping they'd go back to the RTD Daleks for the special. (Also, it kind of doesn't make much sense in-universe for them to all look like the Recon Dalek now because that Dalek casing was a cobbled-together design...)

It hasn't been confirmed that the new version is the permanent design. There were leaked images of Daleks as they appeared from 2005.

Hands up who's surprised... Nobody? Nobody? Didn't think so somehow. I think after his brief appearance we all thought he would appear again soon and with no surprise in the season finale this would be the next logical spot. I think we'd have been disappointed if he didn't show up.
