I've got nothing against the 1DAs or other recasts by any means, it's just that the appeal of Big Finish to me personally is having the original actors returning to their roles. I don't mind it when, say, Elliot Chapman is just filling a gap in a cast of originals, but when it becomes predominantly a recast range, I lose interest, no matter how good it might be. I've never been much into tie-in media in general - I don't buy licensed novels or comics or what have you because I can't get past the idea that they're not the real thing.
Big Finish feels like the real deal, and it's largely because they have the original cast.
