I'm curious about listening to some Vienna stuff before listening to this. Can you listen the The Shadow Heart without having heard the previous entries in that trilogy? If not I'm assuming that you can at least go into The Memory Box without any previous exposure to the character. Tricky Shadow Heart gives you a flavor of Vienna but it does also resolve a couple of central points in that trilogy so if you went Vienna condensed but focused get Memory Box. Regards mark687

Have to agree with Mark here. You can still listen to The Shadow Heart even without the necessary context but you’ll get more out of it in my opinion if you have listened to the previous two stories.
Definitely would suggest starting with The Memory Box if you really want to hear more from Vienna before Master!

Add me to the list of people who were expecting this to be out yesterday (or Wednesday or Tuesday). Well, only three business days of March left to go!

Yeah, I've been driving myself crazy checking and double-checking the site. I don't exactly have high expectations for this release, but I definitely need some new Master in my life ASAP.

I expect this to have a tone similar to Missy - humerous but also serious. Eric is a master (pun intended) of deadpan delivery but also extreme camp when called for.

So, considering the recent Vienna deal can we presume this’ll be out today?

I, for one, applaud this brilliant promotion they're doing by using the release to simulate how long the Master's been trapped in the vortex.

Great to see that this is (finally) out, 'shame that it's apparently going to take my Mac 45minutes to download though... =_=

Faustian
I’ve been waiting for this set all month and this first story didn’t disappoint. One of my main criticisms of the otherwise excellent War Master range is that a lot of the stories feel like bog standard Doctor Who stories with the Master in them. This opening episode felt different and was a lot more dramatic and almost subdued, then I was expecting. On first impressions I’d compare it to Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon. Whether the rest of the box set follows in that style is yet to be seen (although with the Daleks around the corner I doubt it.) An excellent opener and I really enjoyed the build up to Eric Roberts first appearance.

The trailer is great, not too sure it does the job of trying to sell the release, mind. My favourite bit is the Stolen Earth style Supreme Dalek making an appearance; Briggs plays it brilliantly.
Am actually looking forward to getting stuck into the set.
