DL jumping-on point for those of us who don't/can't buy CDs? One day, they shall be download. One day… Yeah I will be waiting to try this series if it is ever offered as a download. For now I'll have to pass.

I now have the complete series. . . . or will, once the new CDs arrive. And for anyone who was wondering, no, you can't really pick up the story after the CD-only titles. It's an on-going political thriller with many story threads and characters weaving in and out of the events. And both season 1 and season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. I haven't started season 3 yet. That said, it is a high quality production and the narrative moves quickly. The script keeps the tension up, and the cast keep the energy level high through every episode.

I'm actually glad I didn't wait for this sale, or for downloads of the first 3 series. In my opinion, the Gallifrey series is one of the very best things that Big Finish has done with the DW ranges and spin-offs. I'm sure Spirit from this series could well be my favorite BF audio of all time. Also the series is full-cast and well-stocked with original series stars.
I had fun ripping the CDs and making filesets that are as much as possible like the downloaded seasons. It was very nice to just jump in and get into that habit of not letting CD-only release be an obstacle as it affects about a half-dozen BF ranges.
BTW, thanks for setting a bad example for me, Hieronymus. I'd been on the fence whether to start buying CDs but your purchases of early Gallifrey releases really helped to inspire mine. It was definitely a good decision for me to follow suit.

What's the normal price per set of Gallifrey 4, 5, 6 and 7? Right now, download is 20 each for Gallifrey 4-6 and 10 for Gsllifrey 7. I'm wondering how much of a savings that is.

Took advantage of the sale to purchase the Gallifrey Series 3 bundle. That completes my series 1-3 collection, as soon as I get the last two series 2 CDs I requested as my free gifts on back to back Main Range subs.

I think I'll be getting Intervention Earth. All the info I've see points to it being a decent jumping-on point, from reviews to the whole 'New Chapter' thing. Unless one of you guys can tell me for certain otherwise… The only issue is there's nothing to jump on to from there. We've had Intervention Earth but it seems we're going back to the old Gally status quo in the next set.

I'm wondering how much of a savings that is. 1-3 is normally £50 Download prices for later sets are: 4 £30 5 £20 6 £30 7 £12.99 So the 1-3 reduction is minimal but the 4-7 bundle at £55 is good value and the overall deal of £100 for the lot is tempting. It's a lot of money though.

It's a lot of money though. Yeah, the 4-7 bundle is a pretty good deal. And the complete bundle would be a great deal if I didn't already own some of the releases. Ack, but I just spent a lot on other things. Maybe I'll wait on getting this. Mainly, I'm trying to get the CD only releases, and with the sale on 1-3, I completed my collection of Gallifrey CD only releases. I always worry that those CD only releases will go out of print before i can acquire them.

I think the cds will stay in print at least until downloads become available.
It'd be interesting to know the specifics of what's holding that up.

I don't know that it's a foregone conclusion that the CDs will become downloads. I thought that there are rights issues involved in why some releases have stayed CD only. Anyway, I have all the CD only Gallifrey CDs, so I'm not particularly fussed about waiting for them to be offered as downloads.

I think the rights issue was being worked on by Paul Spragg, but I have no idea if they were ever picked up again by BF. To be honest they may not even see a need to pursue them anymore (with the new series licence).
I bought the whole series previously and can highly recommend them all. I am normally a download only customer (barring special deals), but would have missed out on a fantastic series if I hadn't purchased the CDs because series 1-3 are particularly brilliant.
Cheers
Tony

Cheers Tony I think James Goss is working on the Benny CDs (sixty-odd titles, he's got his work cut out for him!). It doesn't appear that many of the CD-only stories sell fast enough to make repressing them a concern.

If the Benny or early Gallifrey or any other cd only titles were to become available as downloads I wonder if there's any chance those who've bought the CDs through BF (post website-revamp) might have them added to their account for free?
I'm a hypocritical listener. Must have the CD version for the collection but typically use the BF app to listen to the download version.
