I really enjoy using the Retro Covers for all of my Doctor Who audios in my iTunes. It's one of the reasons that I still buy the Doctor Who releases on CD when I've switched over to downloads for everything else. The big drawback of course is that Big Finish didn't start making retro covers until April/May 2010, with Main Range #133 ( City of Spires) and Companion Chronicles #4.10 ( The Time Vampire). That leaves a LOT of titles with no retro covers. So I started making my own! In cases where I could find clean version of the artwork, I would change all the fonts to match the era. Those are the ones I've done the most of. Titles I couldn't find clean versions of artwork for I take the lazy route and only changed the logo. I know that Love and War and The Highest Science used alternate Bernice Summerfield covers instead, which while that's very cool it still leaves me without a proper Seventh Doctor cover. So with the preview of All-Consuming Fire being released I got inspired and decided to try a design that not only fit in with my other McCoy covers, but also paid tribute to the stories' New Adventures roots. So I have a question for people who bought the single versions of the Novel Adaptations! I only bought the box sets, which had no retro covers. Can anyone tell me if the single releases had them? Following mrfuggleboppins's advice I've set up an Imgur account, and I don't want to post my own retro covers to stories that actually provide them-- I feel that's somehow cheating. So can anyone let me know if The Romance of Crime, The English Way of Death, Damaged Goods, and The Well Mannered War single versions already have them? Thanks!

Retro covers? Please explain further to a DL-only customer. With the recent booklets for Doctor Who CDs, the back cover often features the same cover from the front, but with the logo for Doctor in the story and the text in the font used for episode names from that Doctor's era. This started with the Lost Stories, probably to give them an extra feel for the 80's, and continued with the Main Range and Companion Chronicles from April 2010 onwards (City of Spires for the Main Range and Time Vampire for the Companion Chronicles). All the Fourth Doctor stories include these. It's not available with the downloads, and one the few remaining incentives to buy the CD.

Cool… hopefully when the App is updated, the covers will be on there… No, they don't have the retro covers anywhere online. Unless you want low-res versions, you've got to get hold of the actual CDs and booklets. As I said before, it's one of the incentives to buy the CD. Whotopia has images of the Main Range retro covers, but they don't cover any other ranges. Doctor Who Reviews has retro covers for all releases up to June/July 2011 (they stopped doing Big Finish reviews past that point).

You can also view the rest of my custom retro covers at fergonzo27.imgur.com. Most of them are for the Companion Chronicles, but I have made a few for the main range. Here are the ones I made for the Novel Adaptations Box Sets; click on them to view them full sized. I'm sure that if Big Finish did do these in the single releases then they would have gone with the traditional multi-colored diamond logo. So while mine are still different, I still feel I should wait to hear if they did them at all before I post them to Imgur.

Great work! If only you could use the matching fonts to the logos but I understand that would be difficult.

And yes it was the multi-coloured diamond logo.

Great work! If only you could use the matching fonts to the logos but I understand that would be difficult. Thank you! I'm not skilled enough at photoshop to remove the text without messing up the image behind it, so without clean versions of the cover art I could only change it on the sidebar. And even then I'd have to replace the entire sidebar, which would interfere with the art on Romance of Crime and The English Way of Death. In my mind I justified not changing it by thinking the current BF font is a closer match to the Missing Adventures font.

I assume this means I'll be missing out on the retro covers for the Tenth Doctor Adventures now as well. Oh, well. I really appreciate you letting me know! EDIT: I feel a little torn now. On the one hand I feel I should take them down since genuine retro covers are available. On the other hand until this moment (as ridiculous as this sounds) I didn't put two and two together that here I was a purchaser of the CDs over the downloads for these, yet to get both the Behind-the-Scenes CD and the retro covers I would have had to buy them twice. So what do you think, is the fact that I did mine as Missing Adventures / Novel Adventures make them different enough to be a legitimate consolation price for those of us who bought the deluxe CD set, or is it still crossing the line of disrespecting Big Finish's wishes?
