Random trivia time: Can anyone name the three other Emmy-winning actors apart from Christopher Eccleston to work for BF? (It may surprise you to learn that Eric Roberts isn't one of them, and neither is John Hurt!)

I didn't know any others offhand so I went looking and found a second (who I will decline to name here in the thread right now, but will reply to PM inquiries if you're really stumped). Not sure who the third you've got in mind is, though.

Oh, all right, four then - Jacobi (Frasier / The Tenth Man), Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Warner (Masada) were the ones I was thinking of. Possible there's some more lurking amongst the Dark Shadows cast...

Jean Marsh is also an Emmy winner, for Upstars, Downstairs (that was the one I looked up). Though I suppose in fairness you did say "actors," not "actresses."

(BBC were so lucky they used a gender-neutral title for our hero. Just imagine the fuss if they'd had to rename the show...!)

Possible there's some more lurking amongst the Dark Shadows cast...Well, there's John Karlen (already mentioned) and also Barbara Steele ( The Night Whispers, Dr. Hoffman on the 1991 TV revival), who won an Emmy along with Dark Shadows creator Dan Curtis for producing the mini-series War and Remembrance.

It will be interesting especially if they DON’T do any Torchwood crossovers 😛....I may have been absent but my tastes haven’t changed 😉

Suzie Costello undercover but never saying who she's working for... or the Ninth Doctor meeting Andy Davidson - before TW for Andy, but after Stranded for the Doctor!) You're putting the idea out there into the zeitgeist, @causality - very dangerous if you don't want something to happen!

I've been thinking a lot about the return of the Ninth Doctor and how to expand on his time at the helm. With David Tennent being announced for a season-long arc called Dalek Universe, I've been suspicious that the Ninth Doctor might follow suit. I think I've stumbled upon an idea that I like and that would fit quite nicely into his run, provided that Big Finish and the TV show are your primary canon.
Chalk this under wishful thinking, 'fantasy booking' so to speak.
I became fixated on the idea that the Doctor has a 'newness' about him when he returns as the Ninth. The promise was renewed, but the man as well. And considering that I would slot these adventures between the 'departure' of Rose at the end of the episode Rose and her second chance a few moments later, the idea of the Doctor newly minted has a very powerful edge because for the Ninth Doctor the end of the Time War was extremely recent. Extremely. What if, when Rose said no, and the Doctor dematerialized the TARDIS, he was immediately bombarded with a distress signal. A Time Lord distress signal. He seeks out its source and ends up thrown into a mired of different adventures piecing together stories and bits of information in every story that leads inexorably toward a conclusion that is heart-wrenching. Ultimately, he finds no one, and maybe the search doesn't leave him (or any companion he might have picked up along the way) unscathed. He's so desperate not to be alone. The possibility of survivors, chasing it until disappointment. A board pitch, but I think it would work.

It's been just over 2 months since the announcement. Just quietly wondering.. Were there any scripts completed before Mr. E signed on? Has he already done all the recordings? Anticipation is making me feel young again LOLZ
