Depending on how much you believe the Valeyard -- and, you know... pinch of salt, he is basically the Revisionist Doctor -- his creation may have come as the result of an incarnation of the Doctor attempting to break the limit on their regenerative cycle. Just before their final life. Interesting!🤔That does sound about right! On a similar note, I would love to have more stories where the Doctor just goes full on mad scientist. I could definitely see the Doctor having a secret laboratory hidden somewhere in the TARDIS. Well, funny you mention that. Here's an interesting detail from those grey days of yore: When the First Doctor was asked for his most heartfelt desire in the city of Morphoton on Marinus, he hummed and harred, and eventually went for a laboratory. The finest laboratory with all the equipment that could be brought to muster. I get the impression that left to his own devices he'd be quite the tinkerer. Give him such a space, a pleasant atmosphere to use it, and it wouldn't be too hard to see him dive into it with glee.

A story that reveals Clara really could not completely stay away from 12 post Hell Bent and had become sort of 12’s guardian angel Always secretly checking in on 12 to make sure he was okay without him realizing it. This story then goes into Clara actually reuniting with 12 for one more adventure during series 10 era and temporarily getting his memories back. It’s hugely emotional and they tell each other how proud they are of each other and how far they came but at the same time they want to run away together. Then at the end 12 shocks Clara by telling her she has to mind wipe him again for their own good and they have an incredibly emotional fair well.

"Science, my good man, relies on careful empirical research into all areas of the physical sciences. Endothermal, exothermal, occassionally it even yields results one might consider, erm, eh... illuminating, shall we say?" "Is that pure magnesium?" "Oh, nonsense. Nonsense." "Good." "I diluted it some hours ago, here." He pushed it into his assistant's hand and down. "Away from your face. And don't open the lid. Mmm?" He waggled a finger. "That's a mistake we shall only make once in this laboratory, shan't we? Yes, yes, indeed." ("I'm still seeing spots!")

I have a particular head cannon about 12’s turn to be a mad scientist that I would like to write someday! Keeping it to myself for the time being though!😉 I wonder what sort of mad scientist experiments each Doctor would do?🤔

I did another thing, combing some of my recent post ideas. The War Master: Dead Man's Hand
1. Under The Gun At the furthest reaches of the Somnum System, where light is scarce, there is an ice bathed planet called Exterreri. Nestled in the tundra is a remote outpost where the system's leading scientists conduct their research away from judgmental eyes. The authorities of the system are, by galactic rit, forbidden to interfere, but the Master must if he dares face the monstrosity that awaits. Is it even possible to fight your own nightmare? And if he fails, the entirely of reality will perish with him! 2. Buy-In Unable to resist the temptation, the Masters have answered a summons from their wartime persona: Le Club des Maîtres welcomes you!
Please join us this evening in our lauded Mephisto Lounge for a night of games and refreshment!
Live entertainment provided by the Clockwork Quartet!
Formal wear is required! Oh what fresh hell is this? 3. All-In With the Masters assembled, the hope of the universe lies in a vault that belongs to mysterious shipping magnate Willard Belafonte. It's off to the City of Second Chances and the impregnable Belafonte Grand Casino where security is tight and more than what it seems. Piece of cake, right? 4. Royal Flush With all of time and space across the multiverse in the balance, the Masters retreat to the Anomaly Cage and prepares to reboot the universe. But, the Possessed Master has allies of its own, including an erstwhile member of our band of malcontents. A Master who once called himself Harold Saxon! Not to be outdone, the War Master clutches for success and plays his ace: The Doctor!

Previous post reminded me to work on my idea a bit more. notthebigfinishforum.freeforums.net/post/261976/thread Need to get back to work on this. Not coming soon to Big Finish a new trilogy,
The Time War: The Pentamerous.
The Time War rages on, infecting all of causality. One terrible day the most heroic of individuals will commit the most monstrous of acts. But before then, deep within the forgotten chambers of Gallifrey's most noble citadel, desperate Time Lords set in motion a desperate plan to fight evil with evil.
Derek Jacobi (The War Master) Mark Bonnar (The Eleven) Rufus Hound (The Meddling Monk) Michael Jayston (The Valeyard) Thandiwe Newton (The Rani)
with Julia McKenzie (The Twelve) Charlotte Rampling (Cardinal Ollistra)
Time War:The Pentamerous Vol 1. 1. A Malevolent Menagerie 2. Behind the Veil 3. Cry Havoc... 4. The Head of the Serpent
Time War: The Pentamerous Vol 2. 1. Long Live the King 2. Temporal Attrition 3. Things Fall Apart 4. In Other Worlds
Time War The Pentamerous Vol 3. 1. Casus Belli 2. Lacerated Time 3. The Slaves of History 4. What Was Lost

Clara and one of her echoes accidentally get mistaken for each other and 12 accidentally takes wrong one with him back on the TARDIS.
Sidenote: Even though the Impossible Girl arch was resolved by then, I am surprised we never had an episode in series 8 or 9 where 12 and Clara encounter one of her echoes or an episode in series 10 where 12 and Bill encounter a Clara echo without realizing it.

There’s a DWM comic that has Series 8 era Twelve & Clara meet an echo.

Clara accidentally becomes a giant and towers over London but she ends up liking it a little too much because it makes her feel powerful. UNIT ends up getting involved but it’s ultimately up to 12 to convince her to go back to normal with the help of his guitar.
Sidenote: 12 is against his better judgment slightly a little too into the idea of a giant Clara ( she reminds him of a T-Rex). However he recognizes it would be better for her and safer for civilians if she was back to being 5 ft 2.
Sidenote: I wonder if 12 would make himself a giant to talk to Clara or if he would have Clara pick him up?

The Doctor goes on as a guest on one of those celebrity wilderness survivalist shows (think Bear Grylls) and things go horribly wrong.

A 1960s set historical where 12 stops a riot between the mods and the rockers by teaching them how to bond together through music.

You know, Who never really does much with bogus mystics, prophets and fringe religious cults - we do lots with gods and immortals, but not with the worshippers. My rough pitch, which would certainly get me thrown out of the BBC, would be a story where, seemingly, there is a messiac figure (yep, getting escorted out by security as we speak) who seemingly can do miracles and is returned to Earth with a televangelist preacher in tow to exploit: turns out, it's Mandragora energy using him as a puppet.

I suppose we rather got that with Russ Abbot’s character in the SJA episode ‘Secrets of the Stars’ (which has an antagonist very similar to the Mandragora Helix) but I’d definitely be up for a darker take.

After once again being spat out by the Time Vortex, Salamander infiltrates Gallifreyan society by disguising himself as the Doctor.

Could we call it Bless Your Hearts (to really seal the deal)? I'd be curious if the messianic figure were in on the scam. I can see it going either way. The benevolent sort being a bit like Barnham from The Mind of Evil, after the Keller Machine, "cures" him and turns him into something quite gentle.

Oh! ...leaving them to clear up the mess. However, once the Doctor finds out, his jailers are put in a rather awkward situation. If they mistried Salamander, there's every possibility they did the same to him. The Doctor has one very unique chance in his long stay on the planet Earth -- he lodges an appeal against his exile. While a trio of Observers gauge the Doctor's actions during UNIT's latest crisis, as he tries to prove the strength of his Lordly character, Salamander aims his sights at the Time Lords themselves.
