The Master finds himself trapped within the perfect prison. A Lotus Eater style machine which immerses him within the perfect universe. A universe where he rules supreme and all his wishes are catered for.
Unfortunately, after noticing inconsistencies and an ever growing sense of doubt regarding his current situation he begins to plot his escape.
You know, I’m starting to think this might end up being the plot for next years Masterful.
EDIT: Might make for a more interesting tale if it was The Eleven who was captured actually. I’d imagine such a machine would find it hard to craft a perfect universe around eleven different active personalities without breaking apart (hence the inconsistencies) and some of the other personalities would notice the cracks in their reality more so than the others.

So perhaps the Master's perfect universe would be one where he can make endless schemes, win every time and defeat the Doctor over and over again? And (considering their past scorecard) that's when he knows it's all too good to be true!

And (considering their past scorecard) that's when he knows it's all too good to be true! I like it. Perhaps the wardens of this machine originally tried to craft a prison with which the Doctor didn’t exist but realised that the Master would smell a rat and realise the artificiality of this perfect universe straight away. The schemes could start contradicting themselves after a certain time as it desperately tries to reassert this perfect universe. (This is for when the Master is extremely suspicious) For instance The Master at one time obliterates the Doctor beyond even regeneration only to then have him alive and well the next time they encounter one another. Or have one instance where he gains control of the Key to Time and becomes a God only for the perfect universe to reset once again to another scheme where he is merely trying to dominate the universe via a monopoly. And his method of escape? Admitting to the machines false Doctor that he was always right and was far better than the Master could ever hope to be. The illusion finally shattered as the world begins to dissolve around him. Such revelations are complete codswallop of course and merely a case of ‘desperate times call for desperate measures.’

A story arc where the new companion is seemingly your typical twenty something plucky modern day earth girl, and the Doctor develops a deep bond with but it is slowly revealed that something is slightly off with them, until it is revealed the new companion is actually the Master. The Master then tells the Doctor they wanted to regenerate into someone they would want as a companion, so they became the typical modern day earth girl, even creating a fake family and job back on earth. The Master has grown to like their new identity though and the Doctor admits they actually make a decent companion. So the Doctor, must now decide whether to keep the Master on knowing the truth or if it’s too much of a risk.
The Doctor does something really drastic to themselves to try to make themselves because they think it will make their companion(s) happy but it just shocks and confuses them more than anything else.
Psychotic alien cuspids who invade earth on Valentines Day and who’s arrows cause people to literally fall madly in love with each other, hilarity ensues.
13 in an episode based off of the Stepford Wives where her and Yaz have to go undercover in an exclusive community where the women are secretly being replaced with robot doubles. 13 uses her mechanical know how to reprogram the robot wives to go against their evil husbands.
This is more for big finish and for when they get Capaldi but, 12 and companion(s) end up in the music realm run by a charismatic but slightly mad eternal played by Tim Minchin. He then refuses to let 12 and his companion(s) leave unless they agree to perform in elaborate musical numbers for his own enjoyment.

After his battles with those sinister siblings the Celestial Toymaker and the Queen of Time, the Doctor is made top of the bill by their musical brother... Sing well and he'll demand an encore. Sing badly - and you'll be in his celestial chorus for all eternity. How can the Doctor bring down the curtain on a show which never never ends?
It's always time for a song when the Doctor encounters... {Spoiler} 'The Immortal Impresario'

Another Master story idea.
Once and for all, The Master is finally dead. No more regenerations. No more body snatching. No more prolonging the inevitable.
Upon awakening, he quickly finds himself in Hell or at least a plane of hellfire and damnation where he is judged to suffer for the sins of his multiple life times. An eternity of suffering waits him.
Or does it? For you see, a little thing like death won’t stop the Master.

It's always time for a song when the Doctor encounters... {Spoiler} 'The Immortal Impresario' Love it! 😁 This plot could either work with Sixie or 12! Perhaps this mad music eternal, The Immortal Impresario, could become a recurring character!😀 If Tim Minchin did play a part like this it would be cool if he did all the music for the episodes he appeared in too!😁 I imagine him having his own sort of theme song that he sings whenever he appears! He also has a sentient piano that follows him wherever he goes and eats acts he doesn’t like! I don’t know why I keep picturing Sixie to sing trying desperately to tap dance and keep up with Mel and Jamie while trying to keep the Immortal Impressario from sticking his killer piano on them!

I haven’t experienced Winter for the Adept is it an audio or book? A very early story in the Main Range (10?) so it's a very cheap DL now. Not one of the very best stories but I think the whole MR is worth exploring when anyone has the time, I've a long way to go to completion and keep finding treasures from the back catalogue. And the 1-100 stories are such DL bargains now, even cheaper with a special DL sub and bundles available by Doctor too I think.

A story where the Doctor because of a mishap slowly and painfully physically and mentally transforms into a human over time. The Doctor is terrified and intrigued by this creeping humanity taking them over, and can’t decide weather they want to let themselves become permanently human or if they would loose to much of themselves in the process.

Enjoy. I forgot to mention one special thing about this story if you're a 'Babylon 5' fan at all, take a look at the cast list... I haven’t seen Babylon 5 yet but I hear it’s good 😊 Very arc-heavy and character led with lots of politics, intrigue, mysticism and romance - as well as all the space battles and aliens, of course! Also distinctly 'Tolkienesque' in many ways, think LOTR meets 'Star Trek'.
Series 1 is really a long 'prequel' and a lot changes afterwards, S2-4 do most of the work and S5 was a sort of 'afterthought' because there was a time when it was thought there wouldn't be a fifth series, but it's still good. And it was all technically good too - well made, great effects and what must then have been very expensive CGI.
I loved it back in the 90s, had a friend who was another B5 fan and we speculated endlessly about where the story might go. And we were usually wrong!

Perfect advertising for my re-watch, might have a completely new experience since I cannot remember a lot of it- back in the day I was more into Star Trek.

This one harkens back to my previous ‘Master on trial’ story idea (although you could perhaps do it with the Doctor as well) but I think it would be interesting if they did a story which focuses on how other species view regeneration. Especially in terms of the law.
After all, can a Time Lord truly be judged for the heinous/criminal acts of their precious incarnation when they are technically not the same person?
Would someone such as the Eight be seen as responsible for the actions of his previous seven incarnations?

I loved it back in the 90s, had a friend who was another B5 fan and we speculated endlessly about where the story might go. And we were usually wrong! A third hand up for B5. It's some truly fantastic television. The Tolkien comparison is great because it's one of those shows where you watch it and suddenly a wealth of references and homages pop up in a lot of the sci-fi you've seen previously (if you've ever played a BioWare game, there are more than a few winks and nods there). Doctor Who in the 1990s was littered with them (the Maskmaker's Pageant in The Man in the Velvet Mask use Shadow Battlecrabs, the Doctor crosses swords with a smarmy elevator in Millennial Rites, etc.) and Series 10's storytelling style owes something to Babylon 5's method of doing story arcs. Who's also scooped up some of the actors along the way. Peter Jurasik in Winter for the Adept was one. The other was Peri's mother from The Reaping is Claudia Christian who plays Susan Ivanova on the show.
