No, involving a later companion in the departure of Ace would *absolutely* fall into the realm of what most fans would understand by 'fanjodrell'. But she wouldn't be a 'later companion', she'd be a splinter. And we know there's God knows how many around saving every Doctor pre-12 in some capacity. A splinter of a later companion. Quibble ye not.

As far as I know, BF has never used Katarina in an episode, other than other characters mentioning her. They've featured her in their Short Trips books line. 'Scribbles In Chalk', a prose short story in 'Short Trips: Life Science' takes place between 'Horse Of Destruction' and 'The Nightmare Begins' (and yes, there's a continuity trick to reset events so that nothing is different from how it's seen on screen). 'Katarina In The Underworld' from 'Short Trips: The Muses' is the story of Katarina's post (during) death pursuit of Paradise, aided by an hallucination of (or is it?) the Doctor. That's different from an actual 'as its happening' story (and arguably it doesn't actually happen at all), but it is a must read imho for any sixties fan. Of course there are also throwaway references and images from time to time across various media, and companies. As an aside, there's even a pre-Doctor Katarina in DWM 178's Brief Encounter story - called 'An Unfulfilled Dream'.

Eight and Charley will reunite in an episode of Doom Coliation 3.
Big Finish will announce an Eighth Doctor Dalek adventure set between Doom Coliation 3 and 4 as a jumping on point for new listeners.

Who said 'Two Masters'? You score a point! Firs post in the thread. Where may I cash in my point? After 100 points you get a free copy of Fly Me To The Moon - one of Big Finish's most popular and beloved releases. Nearly as beloved as The Treason Show

- John Dorney becomes Doctor Who's new showrunner. - Adric meets the Sixth Doctor - The Fourth Doctor meets Tom Baker - Third Doctor vs Cyberman story in Third Doctor Adventures volume 2 - Davros meets the Fourth Doctor - Big Finish write a story about what happens post Well Mannered War that explains the Fourth Doctor's subdued tone in season 18 - John Dorney, Jonathan Morris Matt Fitton continues to write excellent Doctor Who stories, i nicknamed them the three who rule cause there my favourite three writer's. - Goth Opera & Cold Fusion are adapted to the novel range.

- John Dorney becomes Doctor Who's new showrunner. Nah, never going to happen. I'd feel sorry for the poor kid, being constantly abused by 6 (unless it was the more toned down post-Peri Big Finish version of 6, of course). That would be hilarious. But who would out-Baker the other? This simply needs to happen. It's an absolute travesty that the 3rd Doctor never got a Cyberman story on TV. Personally, I'd rather see the War Doctor meet Davros. We've already seen 4 VS Davros but not War taking him on yet. Maybe he was subdued because he didn't get his talking cabbage?

Someone on Twitter asked if there are any unannounced bonus DW Boxsets due this year and BF replied:
Not for this year I'm afraid
I'm so hoping that's a fib!

If that's the case it's quite a lean year for the original 3 BF Doctors in big, special releases outside of "Classic Doctors, New Monsters".
By years end ideally I'd like to at least be able to order new volumes of the S19 crew, the 3DAs, Hinchcliffe Presents, Benny with 7...even more ideally completely new boxsets and ideas that are fresh and original like UNIT Dominion or The Last Adventure were.
Still, Nu-Who is the new toy to play with so I can uderstand if BF want to cement relationships and customer bases with River, War, 10, Donna, Churchill, Strax and hopefully others this year. There's only a finite amount of product that can be put out.

I'm sure a few of your examples may always be announced for next year (The Churchill Years and Classic Doctors, New Monsters may not become series yet, after all).

Is this announcement regarding "releasing new boxsets" or "announcing new boxsets"? I didn't really read it properly lol.
Another Fifth boxset is definitely overdue and I'd have thought they would go for another Third (announced) before the end of the year.
Paternoster boxset next year (possibly with an end to the regular Jago & Litefoot Series).
Cheers
Tony

Honestly, I'd be surprised if 2016 wasn't a lean year for the Classic Doctors outside their respective series - this is the Year of New Series Big Finish.
That being said, when we look at Doctor Who as a whole, every BF Doctor except the Third has something announced - 4 EAs for One, 4 CCs (and January's EA) for Two, 8 FDAs for Four, 4 MRs and a CDNM story for Five, the same + J&L for Six / 2 Novel Adaptations for Seven, 2 DCs & CDNM for Eight, 2 TWDs for War, 1 Churchill for Nine, 3 TDAs and a Churchill for Ten, 2 Churchills for Eleven
Together, that's 76 hours of Doctor Who, compared to 80 by the end of 2015.
Add to that one unknown 3-hour novel adaptation in December and one unknown release for the MR in September, and you're up to 81. (Although I expected the 3DAs to come out in 2016. We'll see on that one.)

Any unannounced bonus DW Boxsets due this year such as PHP or 5th doctor Boxset.
Like I say hope that's not the case otherwise its going to be a lean summer and winter.

Plus I'm sure we will get more than a few extra things announced and released in 2016.

Also, just rounding up things we don't know:
- The titles or synopses of the seven MR releases after The Two Masters. - Not even the Doctor of MR #217! - The mysterious 3-hour novel adaptation in December - Titles/synopses of the stories in The War Doctor #3, River Song #2, Early Adventures, Companion Chronicles (also most of the casting is still unknown).
I wonder when we'll find these things out. I seem to remember that 217 was supposed to be something exciting.
