So I did these polls the last two years and they seemed to be popular for determining what we thought was the best of Big Finish of that year and now that it is November I've decided to get it started. Pick your top three from each month and at the end of January a top 20 pull will be compiled once polling has ended. This one is for January 2020. I'm not including any of this year's compilation rereleases as they are not produced for 2020 and excerpts are not included. As the Fourth Doctor Adventures was released as a box set and as single releases, I have decided to include each story as their own entry.

I only got River Song and Chase the Night. I liked both, but I just have a soft spot for River,

Have to go with River Song for this month. Thought the Weeping Angel story was a bit disappointing but I thought the other stories (especially Barrister to the Stars) made you for it.

Adam Adamant is just such a brilliant mix of flashy action and a brave and clever study in identity. 4DA Chase the Night Jane Asher as a wonderfully OTT Who Villain with a literal Tied to Train Tracks Cliffhanger! MR Dark Universe Mark Bonner is always great but Sylvester McCoy is on fire in this. Regards mark687

I went with Chase the Night, The Diary of River Song & Purgatory 12 as my top 3, respectively.
Not only my favourite of the month, but Chase the Night is easily my favourite of the Fourth Doctor Adventures range, which is high praise given I think all the best stuff with Tom at Big Finish has been outside of his own range.
Dark Universe was so disappointing.

I loved River 7 and especially the Nordic story that really captured my imagination and is such a well written tale full of imagery. Chase The night was also Brilliant too Dark Universe ,I do not know it was just anticlimactic for me and I found my mind wandering do not know why but it really needs a good listen again soon as I love Bonnar .
but when all is said and done it has to be Adam Adamant it was fresh challenging exciting and scary and brilliant written keeping me guessing and had some real great acting moments too especially from Guy Adams...So Adam it is ❤️ Am only casting my TOP vote

I enjoyed 'Dark Universe' very much but I've only got three votes and there were a bunch of top class releases in January so:
Adam Adamant Lives! Vol 1 - as a big fan of the classic TV series, this was close enough to be recognisable and distant enough to be original. Brilliant from Guy Adams
The Diary of River Song Vol 7 - my favourite River set to date. Detective mysteries full of variety and great listening.
The Sins of Captain John - put a well-polished boot through the fourth wall and right into my ear. Huge fun.
All three sets were excellent, a terrific way to start the year with BF.
And I wanted to vote for both Fourth Doctor sets too. I demand new voting rules, it's not fair! But the novelty of the other three volumes made them stand out for me.

Honorary mention to Short Trips : The Infinite Today, purely for the force of nature that is Katy Manning..
Three nominees for the January top spot then...
The Diary Of River Song : Volume 7 - for finally...FINALLY!... proving the character can stand on her own two feet in a boxset without linking in any way, shape or form to her "sweetie". Hopefully we'll get more of the same in Volume 8.
Adam Adamant Lives : Volume 1 - "Edwardian adventurer sporting a stiff upper lip and posh accent wakes up in the 1960s, comes into contact with a strong willed young woman and a down on his luck thespian / Punch and Judy man before embarking on adventures with them". It shouldn't work but totally does, thanks to both the performances of the three leads and Guy's writing. An instant favourite of mine when released.
Top of the tree though goes to The Sins Of Captain John --for not so much breaking the fourth wall more taking it gleefully down with a lot of dynamite and for the adult content / humour. Great fun (ironically turned out to be a good purchase just two months later..) but definitely NSFW unless you are wearing earphones, and even then you run the risk of strange looks from your colleagues when you suddenly start laughing out loud for no apparent reason....😳

I had a top four, so Captain John lost out. The other three were River, Adam Adamant, and Chase The Night which is my favorite Fourth Doctor story in quite a while.
