finally I got around to the audiobook and how lovely it is I have rewatched the series many times and it is always nice to revisit the original storyline so I have been playing it as my bedtime story last few evenings.Carolyn has a wonderfully rich voice for narrating.I remember how much this was a part of my childhood...and strangely very apt for the current situation

Three sittings. I remember about 15 years back, my Mother read the old 70's TV-Tie in PB and told me that it diverged from the series with a tragic ending, but I got wrapped up listening to it and did not see it coming. Very good and nice to see Tom Price (Talfryn Thomas) get a strong character development. On a sad note. I saw that Myra Frances (wife to Peter Egan and also memorable in Creature from the Pit) died on the 30th March, to Cancer. He posted a video tribute online:

Having no knowledge of the series prior to BF's production - and having only watched the first season so far - I only just learned the other day that Carolyn Seymour left after Season 1! Which is an absolute tragedy because as far as I'm concerned, Abby's the strongest of the three mains in that first season and one of the most relatable characters.
All this to say, when I eventually get through all the rest of Survivors, I'll probably check out this audiobook just for more Abby. (Even if I know what happens at the end...) Plus, it's on Spotify, so why the heck not?

Plus, it's on Spotify, so why the heck not? Well at least I put in no spoilers... As far as I remember, she still features in the later two series, in contact with Jenny & Greg, in her search for her Son, related by way of contact updates through the vine. So she is not written out, just absent from their own efforts to rebuild a community. Denis Lill (Charles) & Celia Gregory d2008 (Ruth) were also key players in the latter two series, with Greg (Ian McCulloch) guesting in only two episodes of S3 and Charles taking the dramatic lead. Series 2 gets tied up in the building of the 'community' which some find wearisome after the dramatic storylines of the fist series, bar the 'Lights of London' two part detour, but they address this with more variety and perils in series 3, which restores some of the post apocalyptic feel. The book can be listened to regardless, as it only borrows a few plotlines from s1 before going its own way, being written prior to the later series.

Well at least I put in no spoilers... I think I was spoiled by a Wiki page or something, where the changed ending was spelled out matter-of-factly as part of the description of the book. Like "The novelisation follows the TV series except the ending where [EXPLICIT SPOILERS]" Not the first time that's happened... I found about Adric's fate on the wiki page for a Torchwood episode! Something like "Jack mentions an asteroid that killed the dinosaurs. LITTLE DID HE KNOW THIS WAS ACTUALLY-"
