A great little detective romp with a fun conceit at the heart of it. Probably the most impressive thing about this release is it’s own sound design which really brings to mind the old film serials from RKO.
What did you all think?

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Great fun with lots of little gags and references to pop culture of the time that don’t get in the way of the story.

I think I would have done a couple of things differently, but I have pretty much always adored this story...
One creative writing project I've always considered doing was trying to figure out what this story would look like as a Hammer Horror/1950's style B-Movie.

This has all the hallmarks of a Gatiss script - comedy and horror. It is enjoyable and McGann and Fisher are having a blast in this one. Not sure if the tone is ever quite right - it goes from trying to be quite dark (feeding someone to a monster) to quite comical and jokey at the end. Might just be me, but I found it quite jarring in places.
Very authentic to the period with the musical cues a highlight.

I definitely remember this one as being one of my favorite 8/Charley stories. I don't recall liking it so much for the execution, as the premise. Basically... the whole story is a really engaging concept, and the banter between the Doctor and Charley was really enjoyable.

Nice fun run around start to the 2nd season of highlight of 8th Doc and Charley.
Interesting the thing what stands like a sore thumb is the introduction of Cosmo Divine everything else is played out with its tongue in its cheek, but he's very nearly a Sadist.
As I said everything else is a humorous homage to 30s Gumshoe Novels and and whats arguable Mr Welles's chaotic Career Defining moment.
4/5
