Adopting the alias of Weng-Chiang, the 51st century war criminal Magnus Greel will one day arrive in Victorian London by Time Cabinet – only to meet his doom, his plans undone by the Time Lord known as the Doctor. The Doctor never believed he'd meet Greel again. But when a TARDIS trip to companion Tegan's home town goes wrong, the Doctor ends up in the younger Greel's heyday – in a world on the brink of all-out war. With the Doctor at the mercy of Greel's alien associate Findecker and his army of mutations, Tegan is about to learn just why they called Greel 'The Butcher of Brisbane'…
Well can you really compete with the original....time to go down memory lane and it’s already 9 years old

did Talons need a prequel?Did I need to know more about Greel?Do I really believe Nyssa would fall in love with Greel?Do I believe Dingos will talk?Ok so all the answers are no but it’s an enjoyably dark tale full of Marc Platts imagery working on snippets from the original script does some world building. It does though get a bit fan w—k- at times but hey I do enjoy it sometimes though when you listen you get the feeling the Doctor knows so so much almost like 7 but hey Tom Baker knew so Peter probably knows even more.I am sure he goes back into the Tardis and does some surfing of the web when he finishes an adventure😂😉he must have missed the bit about Nyssa being the fiancé though

I rather like it. Has some interesting worldbuilding regarding the future of the 51st century and I like how it fleshes out Magnus Greel as an antagonist. Although admittedly I’ve always been surprised at how he seems to have become a recurring antagonist as of late.
For a moment though, I was wondering if the plot would completely go a different direction and infer that the Greel of Weng-Chiang was in fact a completely different character that merely assumed the name.

Well you can just imagine the budget on this release such a rich visual script and we aren’t even ten minutes into it.

Am doing this relisten with the mindset of not knowing anything about Weng Chiang i mean who wouldn’t as a kid want a Mr Sin doll? What a lovely ,thoughtful gift

I rather like how my k owledge of that area of Brisbane leads me to the strong suspicion that Greel’s secret base is under the hospital where my brother used to work (not far from the Windmill on Whickham Terrace from where Tegan sees the Mighty Brown Snake (the Brisbane River) and realised she was in Brisbane).

Well i dont know what was different this time but this was most enjoyable listen of this story i have had truly epic and full of foreboding and doom with Epic minds scapes but even if you haven’t seen Weng Chiangmai you can most definitely enjoy this story and its one of the few that could definitely be enjoyed novelised.

I enjoyed this, but found it had kind of mixed themes. The whole talons-prequal mixed with the cyborg-dingo-whatevers felt like Marc was given two briefs and he did his best to mix them.

Liked this one. It is a very different story to Talons and its important to adjust the expectations going in.
