For those of you who have listened to the first series, would you say it’s worth checking out?

For those of you who have listened to the first series, would you say it’s worth checking out? Tricky I find him a unlikable and unsympathetic charterer but i can only make that judgement because I've brought the previous stories and unfortunately the pilot EP will give you a somewhat false positive. Regards mark687 Yes I enjoyed the pilot episode but in the full series it seemed almost like a completely different character, very unlikeable & annoying with poorly plotted stories - almost nothing happens in the final story.

9.99 for a 2-hour Big Finish quality full cast drama seems like a good deal to me. If this new outing can stick to the adventure and mystery intrigue aspects that made the Pilot and the first half of Series 1 so very good, it will be successful entertainment in my book. The wishy-washy (what type of man and career path should Cicero do) ending episode of Series 1 wasn't to my liking either.

Ive bought it even though i’ve only listened to episode 1 ahah oh well i like Big Finish being able to do their own things and if supporting this makes that more financially viable then i don’t mind

For those of you who have listened to the first series, would you say it’s worth checking out? I would say it certainly sounds more dramatic and less soap operaish of the first series-the politics of Rome at that point in time where very turbulent so I think this actually will be better than the original series....as long as the Doctor doesn’t show up in it am fine 😂

This is...just the most welcome news. Loved the 'pilot,' loved the first series, been dying for more. Very excited that this is moving into such a tumultuous period in Roman history, I can't wait to see how it plays out.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I enjoyed the first set, but felt it really kinda fell apart as the focus in the latter stories veered more into Cicero's (not terribly endearing) personal life, but it sounds like the second set will embrace the more political focus of the early stories--fun!
I am a bit concerned about the length. 120 minutes is very short! That's less than one third the length of the first set! And I know most of y'all don't care to comment on pricing (maybe I just have less disposable income to spread around?) but I can't help but notice that even with the lower price, the time-to-money ratios keep getting worse. Cicero 1 provides approximately 15 minutes of content per dollar; Cicero 2, meanwhile provides only approximately 12 minutes per hour. Granted it's not a huge difference, but as Big Finish is already one of the most expensive forms of entertainment media, I cannot help but note this anticonsumer trend,
And also, like, I'm just plain bummed we're not getting a "full" boxset.

I thought the 1st set was brilliant!.But i am unsure about this one.Should i turn left? Should i turn right? Should i turn back? or carry straight on? You could say i have come to the crossroads! instant pre-order for me!

A very well made feature length story. The various big figures are well portrayed and the returning characters do feel distinctly different from how they were in the initial release. I wouldn’t mind more Cicero releases.

I wouldn’t mind more Cicero releases. The Crossroads is a little lower key than my over the top imagination might have preferred, but it is quite good for what its makers designed it to be. A fair balance of entertainment and keeping within historical confines. A worthy addition for listeners that enjoyed Cicero's previous installments. 8/10

This instalment of Cicero focusses more so on the backroom alliances of influential men of that time that were intent on furthering their political aspirations. I quite liked Julius Caesar being shown as an antagonist puppeteer towards Marcus and having the brash politician Clodius as the direct conflict baddie. Joe Shire's booming voice (something you would expect from a 300 movie) is what a villain should sound like - he commands your attention!
The more I listened to the Crossroads (4 times over the last 4 weeks!), the more I gained additional appreciation for it. I was initially wanting a "filler-in" (a word that was used by Scott during the interviews about a possible plan of an attack of the series' direction in the future) adventure of a courtroom account thriller with lots of twists and double helpings of backstabbing and salacious behavior. What we got instead was something more refined and cultured. My satisfaction score of the Crossroads has increased to 9/10.

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Count me in as another who was expecting something different. What I've realized with this series is the just when you think you know what it is it changes. Whether that's a good thing or a bad depends on your point of view.
There were times in the course of the story that I didn't know who was who, so that was a little jarring.
