Did it go through if I did not get a confirmation email? No idea. If it was me, I'd recheck the address and resend with an explanation of better safe than sorry.

Just submitted mine. I received an auto-confirmation almost immediately. Did it go through if I did not get a confirmation email? Make sure your E-mail Server tells you you've sent your submission But As far as I know yes as long as its sent before the Deadline it gets read, not everyone gets confirmation E-mails from BF though Regards mark687

Well, that's me submitted too. You know what they say... Sixth time's the charm (that's the saying, right?). Good luck to all who have entered - and especially those still beavering away in the final hours!

Good luck to everyone who's entered and anyone who's still making a few last-minute edits! Don't get discouraged if you don't win: I entered every year except one, never won, and then ended up winning the Bernice Summerfield contest. No writing is wasted, even if it sometimes feels like it, and rejection is completely normal. I've had more rejection letters than I can count, but I've had a few publications too, and I wouldn't have gotten those if I hadn't kept going through the rejections. Keep writing and keep trying! Pro tip: If you're submitting, keep a running tally of those rejection letters because that's every single time you've tried. Every time you have opened your mind to the possibility of succeeding, every time you've completed something and every time you have submitted it out into the world for other people to view. The reality of the situation is not everyone does. We're surrounded by writers in this thread. Many for whom this is a natural state of being, but there are people who never make it past the first page. Not everyone has the courage to go and create something. To see it through to the end, but you did. Keep going.

Alright, it's almost 8:00am on the first day of July in London. Good morning to all there. *claps hands* Right, so you have submitted your story to the competition and it's now in the hands of Big Finish... What's next? Well, the next stage of the process is the interval between sending and receiving, which can sometimes be just as hard as the writing. A multitude of thoughts will be running through your head at the moment, ranging from "Will they like it? I hope they'll like it," to "Oh, god, I should've added that, why didn't I add that?" There's nothing unusual to those thought processes. It's a tough, highly-strung moment clicking the submit button and it's natural to go through the permutations of "What if?" Take a moment to relax, catch your breath and acknowledge to youself that Yes, I have completed and submitted the story. That, in and of itself, is an achievement. After that, it's important to keep your mind busy on other things. Don't let the waiting and clockwork checking of emails take over. Sometimes the best remedy is to write some more on something else. If you have the momentum, there's no better time to use it. In other instances, it's equally just as wise to leave the computer/tablet/phone and go exercise, read a book, catch up with friends or watch the rain fall just outside the window. Give yourself a reward. Something to remind the body, not just the brain, that there's something nice at the end of the process. Importantly, remember that news will come in its own time. Regardless of whether or not you're waiting for it. Use this time available to collect new ideas and look after yourself.

Well, that's it! Another entry submitted. Like I said many times before, I don't care who wins and I want to wish everyone all the very best. And on a final note, I've already started doing a full rough draft of this year's entry.

Just emailed BF about if they received my entry since I didn’t get an email confirmation. Fingers crossed 🤞 Update: Never got a response about if they got my entry or not😕 I double checked that I had typed the email address correctly when I mailed my entry and it was correct. Fingers crossed that BF still got my entry even though I didn’t have a confirmation email🤞

I am glad I have that other audio drama competition to enter soon it makes waiting to hear about Paul Spragg seem less nerve wracking. If Paul Spragg doesn’t work for me this year maybe the other one will. Or vice versa. Or better yet both competitions (hey, I can dream😉)! Sidenote: Good luck to all who entered!😊

Having submitted, and once you've caught your breath, why not go ahead and finish the story. If you win, you're one step ahead. If not, then you can either post it as fan fiction (once you're absolutely positively sure that you haven't been selected) or change some things and make it an original story. With regard to posting it, back in 2017 I considered just posting Landbound, figuring they must have picked someone by then. They hadn't, and thank goodness I didn't. About making it an original story, my story "Remember Me?" started off in my head as a Doctor Who story, concerning the impact of a companion being left behind by the Doctor. I replaced the Doctor with another kind of traveler, added a cat to the mix, and boom. That's the beauty of writing, there are so many paths to explore...

My full rough draft of this year's entry is already in the works, and I'm hopeful to get it done by my birthday! If it turns out that the winner is somebody here on the forum, I suggest we pay tribute to them in the Paul Spragg ReCollections Volume 2.
