Giving the Big Finish Dredd audio's a relisten in readiness for this. Still think they are a flawed endeavour, it is difficult to replicate the comic book style of Mega City One in audio, it can come across as quite cheesy which sadly it does in this first one, Wanted Dredd or Alive. The voice acting on Dredd is annoying & the choice for Max Normal is weird if you are familiar with the character.

Wonder what style & tone these Audiobooks have?
The issue with Dredd in BF audio dramas was it was toned down, the setting & characters don't translate to a toned down narrative, the characters are violent, uncompromising throughout the world of Mega City.
I maybe wrong though.

Having a look on Audible (which is where the pre-order link takes me) and each release is over 8 hours long. I guess this means there may be a narrator reading the text of novels with the actor for a part reading the dialogue in a dramatic fashion. (BBC did this with the His Dark Materials books (as well as shorter dramatisations) and also with American Gods (can't recall who).)

I’m honestly surprised it’s taken this long for Halo Jones to be adapted into another medium. It’s ‘saga’ nature I would have thought would have been ideal for something such as television or this case audiobooks.

Looking forward to getting stuck into these, I wonder how they will come across to those unfamiliar with the source material.

See them on iTunes and at a reasonable price Slaine and two Judge Dredds anyone listened and think they are worth getting? Yes I have heard 2 so far. Judge Dredd: America. A really engaging adaptation of this classic Dredd story. I found it a lot more dramatic than the cartoony Big Finish audios, Fiennes' Dredd will divide fans I think as he is not the gravelly voiced hardman but a more subtle softly spoken lawman. The America story is also not the typical Dredd story he is more a supporting character. Overall I preferred his take but it did take some getting used to. & today I started The Ballad of Halo Jones which is also good, but this one in particular may be a bit odd for non-fans.

The snippet I heard of Slaine was narration basically but hell I will try it and I found Halo....pity they don’t do CDs lol but hell suck it up Boab1

Good that they have gone with an Irish cast for Slaine.

Quite liked Halo Jones. Decent adaptation.
Dredd: The Pit doesn’t work. Too big a cast list to know where you are. Sticks too closely to the comic book.
