Well, i'm down to 2 of the first 50 MR releases. One of those is ...ish, a very hard to find sixth doctor adventure, the only copy I have even come across is on ebay, and it's 60 US dollars, that equates to around 40 in British currency. Now I've not really looked in depth at buying a copy of this story yet, but the name itself makes it very hard to locate on ebay, amazon and the major sellers that I know of, but that's not really the gist of this post.
I thought I had bought the CD Storm Warning on 3 separate occasions now, only not to have a copy in my collection yet.
The first time, a respected book store I have bought from online in the past had a copy, and I ordered it, at a decent price. I went through the checkout and everything, and then 2 days later they emailed me, telling me, that they had the case to the story, but the cd itself was missing, and they could not locate it.
The second time, I was at a huge comic book store in Buffalo, New York, just looking around, and they had a few doctor who cd's, Storm Warning was sitting on the shelf along with a few others of the first 100 MR releases, and a few Bernice Summerfield cd's, so I grabbed the copy and took it to the checkout(when I was finished), they opened it up and the cd had a huge scratch on it, deep and wide, and they tried it out and it wouldn't play. Foiled again.
The last time, just started a couple of weeks ago. I found the copy on ebay, along with three other MR releases I needed, I won all 4(lost ...ish) on bids, and paid for the cd's. A few days later, I got an email stating that the person selling it, had just moved, and has misplaced the copy of Storm Warning, I wrote him back and told him, that I was in no hurry, and I could wait for a couple of weeks to see if he could locate the copy, then a few days ago, I noticed that he had refunded my money for the cost of Storm Warning, thus busting my hopes and dreams once more.
I think it's kind of funny, and just not meant for me to have a cd copy of Storm Warning at this point. The time lords have foiled me, but I shall continue my hounding, until I put those time lords to rest, once and for all.

You could always make your own CD and cover from the download version. Not the same I know, but you would have it.

I know they need the space and I'm sure they can point to sales numbers and sell through figures and all that but I am still amazed they let the first 50 go out of print, especially the 8th Doctor audios. The Monthly Range is what they built eerything around and the 8th Doctor audios hold a very unique place in Doctor Who history. Anyway, good luck.

Yikes, that's rough. I have been on a quest to fill in the first 50, too. Storm Warning actually fell in my lap for a great price. I was worried about finding a copy but then there it was. The one giving me a tough time, oddly, is Flip Flop. Not because it was hard to find or particularly expensive, but because it was sent to me registered post and the post office didn't notify me, they just sat on it and sent it back. So I'm waiting for the seller to resend it. That's the last one I need, though, so my quest is nearly complete. The hardest part was being patient and waiting for the right prices. I checked ebay on a daily basis for a while there. I'm also still trying to fill in the last couple of Judge Dredd Big Finish releases that I need. That's been a much greater test of patience as many of those releases are proving way more rare.

Its not like they're letting the stories dissappear into obscurity.

You could always make your own CD and cover from the download version. Not the same I know, but you would have it. I tried that with 4 EDAs, but having become a massive Eighth Doctor fanboy, I eventually caved and picked them up on Amazon at not-too-outrageous prices.

I understand that but I also understand the mentality of the fan/collector and so much of that revolves around the physical and actually owning something.

I'm guessing that there aren't enough people who feel that way to make it worth it for BF to spend money printing more CDs though.

I'm about 12-14 stories away from completing the first 50. Storm Warning was actually the first one I got as I wanted to start with 8th

You could always make your own CD and cover from the download version. Not the same I know, but you would have it. I have thought long and hard about just that. But, I started collecting comic books at a very young age, and that has led to an OCD about completing collections. And I am not willing to even read downloaded comic books. Now I have downloaded the free stories, that aren't available on cd, like the Unit: The Coup, and burnt those on cd, but as they are not available on cd, I have no problem with my OCD about this. Mostly my thoughts have been to download it, burn it, and listen to it, while still searching for the original cd to fill in my collection, and it may just come to that, in the end.

I've wondered how many cd's have to be printed in order to just turn a profit? I figure it's in the 500 range just to break even, though the number could be much, much higher.

Great does not do it justice. It's worth 40 or 50 bucks, coarse that's just my opinion.

I'm sorry you guys didn't hit this board sooner. I cleaned out and up some shelf space and realized I had two copies of Ish. I ended up donating it to Goodwill with a bunch of stuff. This was literally like two months ago. I probably had that extra copy for a few years.
