This is a lot cleverer than many of the reviews would have you believe. Admittedly, the two warring factions of Business and Economy on Tantane Spaceport is a touch cliched but the script adds a good history to both.
The mysterious Elderbones character adds to the mix, as does the seldom seen but often heard monster - The Whailer - but the real winner is the excellent sound design as the Doctor and Mel explore the underpowered spaceport and have various run-ins along the way.
Slightly let down by the ending but a really good listen.

This one is quite underrated in my opinion. Unfortunately, I think it’s just become one of those releases that has fallen to the wayside over the years such is the case with many other stories such as ‘Absolute Power’ ‘Phobos’ and ‘The Acheron Pulse’ to name a few.

I really enjoyed this one too. In fact, I'll have to give it another listen sometime soon. It had a kind of slightly-more-desperate Paradise Towers 'vibe' to it, I remember. William Gallagher is a writer whose BF work I really like, with the possible exception of Scavenger, which failed to leave much of an impression. Even so, I'd like to see him write again for BF.

This whole trilogy is really interesting because you've the inventiness of the pior story, the atmospheric nature of this one and arguable the easiest insertion of The Eminence in the next one. Regards mark687

A little bit Paradise Towers, a little bit Face of Evil, very much a traditional Who story done well!

Roland Pickup is amazing in this one. Great actor and a great voice for audio. I always thought he'd have made a good BF Master incarnation (or the Black Guardian).

I listened to this story quite a while ago, but I remember I enjoyed it a lot.

I listened to this story quite a while ago, but I remember I enjoyed it a lot. Me too - a classic ‘haunted house’ mystery of empty halls, shifting walls, failing lights and even a ‘ghost’! With lots of jokes about 80s life only slightly hidden under the alien future storyline.
I really enjoyed the Doctor and Mel's gently teasing friendship and as someone who really didn't like the character on TV it's great to hear Bonnie Langford playing Mel in a script full of cleverness, computer skills and quick-thinking, without a scream to be heard!
