I am so grateful that Big Finish has the download option available.
While the CDs are lovely objects, I have been able purchase so many more stories as downloads.
I hope that in the new year Big Finish can resolve their remaining download issues in the Who lines.

If it weren't for the downloads, my flat would be full of CDs - or worse, I would have to cancel my Big Finish fix! I still buy the occasional CD special set, but downloads are my preferred - and cheaper - option.

I love the download option as it is much more affordable for those of us in Noth America to grab the download over the CD.
Add in the lack of space for CD's and it becomes a double bonus.

It's a lot more versatile and you still get the content. Sometimes the CD is nice, but the download allows you to experience the story still. I also like how it's far easier to back up, you can store the zip files on a hard drive for safe storage. The choice between mp3 and audiobook is handy (audiobook is a slightly smaller download and less maintenance), you can burn your own CDs for playing in the car (I know some people use this method to listen to titles in the first 50 during the daily commute).

I have to admit, I wouldn't have started with Big Finish if it weren't for the download option! I've had such bad luck with international shipping that I was afraid to use it (a set of Doctor Who DVDs from Amazon UK took three months to get here!), so I wouldn't have looked the site over had it not been for downloads. And egads, what a mistake that would have been, considering my addiction to all things Big Finish over the last three years...
(Actually, I just recently received my first physical CD (The Blue Tooth), and was stunned that it only took two weeks to get here! So now I plan to order physicals of some of my favorite titles, meaning they get even more of my business!)

Hear! Hear! I would not have started at BF were it not for the many CDs available (I couldn't resist 8th Doctor, Daleks, and Ice Warriors), but what kept me going was the download option. Once I found the website*, and saw how much was available, I quickly realized I'd never want that much space taken up by CDs, and began purchasing downloads almost exclusively. Of course, some things just HAVE to be purchased on disc... * My first BF purchases were through eBay and Amazon. <bleh>

I really, really wish they would get the d/l rights sorted for the original Benny series.

I really, really wish they would get the d/l rights sorted for the original Benny series. The last podcast did hint at some big Benny news in the new year, and the download rights have been a long-running project. I'm hoping that at least a season or two has been greenlit for download. If the download rights is the announcement, I hope Sue gets a big reward for all the cover image upgrading necessary, as it's about 60 or so individual covers currently at 315x315. Lisa Bowerman could make her a chocolate cake.

I really, really wish they would get the d/l rights sorted for the original Benny series. Me too. I wouldn't have anywhere close to the amount of BF product as I do if there was no download option. I may not have started listening at all. The shipping costs to the US would have made it more difficult to afford all those audios.

Am I the only one who (mostly) switched from fiddly Downloads to nice shiny CD's?
Admittedly I only follow a relatively small amount of ranges and tend to buy things on sale/pre-order price so there's not a massive pricing difference and I haven't as yet had to worry about space issues, but I just prefer the simple security of playing (and the anticipation of waiting) for a CD (complete with nice shiny artwork) rather than fiddling around downloading stories, though it'scertainly great to still have the option if I change my mind (and very generous of BF to offer downloads for free for CD purchasers!), I do still purchase/listen to download versions sometimes, but I guess I'm just one of those odd 'physical media' only people.

I usually wait for the CD copy to arrive before listening to my Big Finish purchase, and when im working away (like tomorrow morning) I pick 2 or 3 CDs to pack in my suitcase to keep me company.
Im eagerly awaiting for my new Avengers box set to turn up, and will listen to the first Churchill box set this week.

Yup, love those downloads. I certainly wouldn't have listened to as much Big Finish if I'd had to pay for all those CDs plus overseas shipping!
