Well.
Just finished it.
I agree it was very clever, there are many great funny bits (however, it is not an outright comedy), and the characters are used perfectly.
This has really great atmosphere. Some clever use of the audio medium.
The performance, as we have come to expect from BF, is impeccable. Starkey is fantastic and he manages to give each of his clone warriors, despite them being clone warriors, a distinctive voice and character.
I enjoyed myself. This is a good release.
BUT.
Is it just me or is this really heavy handed on the social commentary?
I agree with all the points made and all is valid and presented well.
But honestly, I felt like catapulted back in time to my childhood when my siblings and me joined my dad (a glowing socialist) for rallies and demonstrations and people handed us kids red flags and called us "comrade". And then they shoved us out to wave the flags in front of the TV cameras, since the TV crews always liked filming the kids.
Plus we liked to keep an eye out for the evening news, and see if we could spot ourselves.
I know that BF never hides their allegiance and they do not shy away from social commentary.
I like them for it. Because I think it is the right message.
But now that I am grown up, I like to have the choice of picking up that red flag at my own pace, thank you very much, instead of having it pressed into my hands.
This release is about as subtle as a bulldozer.
EDIT- and I totally forgot to mention my favorite character of the story! Shout out for Field Marshall cat. The cat is awesome!!!!
