Yeah, the Last Resort set is the only repurposed MR stories.

Bit mixed about this announcement - Seven and Mel stories are always welcome, but I'm not crazy about both stories relying on nostalgia/returning themes (Cybermen and Ribos)...

As already pointed out by others here, 2022 looks like it’s going to be a busy year for Bonnie Langford.

I love the Seventh Doctor audios and have been looking forward to this announcement, but I have to agree, the nostalgia thing doesn't make me hugely excited, especially as his television stories were mainly looking forward with new villains and situations.

I also made note of this in the end of main range thread. I do think that the 7th Doctor sets are going to be disconnected to each other this year, so hopefully something a little bit different for November.

I like to think they’re going ahead with these more nostalgia based stories in order to allow listeners to gently ease in to the new boxsets post Monthly Range approach. Plus, let’s face it, nostalgia sells.

I can't complain too much!

Yeah, I don't even know why I'm wary because BF tend to knock it out of the park most of the time, so I'll probably be eating my words by the time this is released...

Plus, let’s face it, nostalgia sells. Presumably, yeah. I've seen some people (not here: we're all pretty firmly in the BF cult, I think) kind of dismiss Big Finish generally for this nostalgia-pandering, and I get it, and am honestly kind of annoyed by it, but at the same time they're also being wildly unique and experimental with stuff like 'Stranded' -- and I don't think it would be unfair to say that it's the former approach that enables the latter. Like in this case, I think we're all pretty excited to see how Big Finish handles the big story arc(s) to draw the curtains on the 7th Doctor's era, and likewise things like Beyond War Games taking the 2nd Doctor into (potentially radically) new directions, but these are all built on a foundation of ,ich more conservative, familiar stories.

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Sounds good but I do hope that June 2022 is not the next time we hear Sylvester. Other than his brief appearance in The End of the Beginning, the last Seventh Doctor story was December 2020! Goodness me - I have only just realised this

I just realised the other day that (correct me if I’m wrong) this is Mel’s first story with the Cybermen, at least as far as TV/BF is concerned - I’m not sure if she’s encountered them in any of the novels or comics?

I think you're right! Mel and the Cybermen were both in The Quantum Archangel but it sounds like it wasn't the main universe Mel who encountered them? Haven't read that book myself.

Have to say even though I’m not a fan of it, I’m surprised they didn’t use the watercolour aesthetic for this release.

The words are not as bad as the accompanying music which sounds like something from an advert for air freshener.

I get embarrassed every time I hear it. Have to say even though I’m not a fan of it, I’m surprised they didn’t use the watercolour aesthetic for this release. Big Finish or consistency: pick one.
