I got all existed for the mention of Vila after all that post-Liberator talk about Jenna thinking it was a post-GP Vila (because my head canon is that he survived by seeing the oncoming troopers and playing possum).

Slightly disappointed Howman is not reprising his TV character. Would have been a nice bit of uncontrived continuity. Why bother getting him back at all to play A N Other character?

This is the last announced 'Worlds of Blakes 7' full cast. I've really enjoyed them all so far. I wonder if there will be any more? I'd quite like to find out more about what Avalon has been upto.

Its the 43rd Anniversary of the 1st Broadcast of the TV EP Shadow whose main Guest Character returns here. Hence the reason for the Sunday Release.

Two things I'm left feeling after the latest releases.
The way everyone seems to know each other and keep bumping into the same people makes the universe feel like an increasingly small place.
Every time psychostrategists turn up, it makes them look increasingly incompetent. I'd love a play where a psychostrategist actually gets it right.

This boxset is really good. All ghe recent Worlds releases have been good, but this is the best.

I found Stimulus/Response to be abit of a plodder if I'm honest - one I'll revisit another time - but Entrapment by Robert Valentine was a real gem.
Possibly because Vila is a fairly complex character, you never quite know where his loyalties lie, even more so now he's away from the Liberator team. A delightfully multi-layered heist tale, this comes across quite simply s a lot of fun, bolstered by some first rate performances. Still not sure about the new theme for this series, it sounds very 'tinny'. I don't know why they didn't just stick with the version used for the Avalon sets. That minor gripe aside, I look forward to the final story, The Offer, and finding out more about the mysterious Enforcer. How good to still have some new Blake's 7 to get stuck into. |
