I've listened to the first story and I really like it. I would give it a 9/10. Hopefully I'll be able to listen to the rest of the stories later this week I've always enjoyed Greek mythology (between binging the entire percy jackson series when I was 15 and having several classes on Greek and Roman mythology at school), so when I saw that one of the stories in this set focussed on this I was really intrigued. I really like the idea of visiting the world of fiction and interacting with fictional characters. It's just funny to me that the Master visits these fictional worlds and uses his knowledge of these stories to his advantage, even though the Master is a fictional character in our world. Makes me wonder how a fourth wall breaking story with the Master finding out he's fictional would go, lol. Anyway, I really liked the confrontations with the Greek gods and the references to several myths. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}However, I did find it odd that Medusa's curse worked on the gods? I mean, I know that Greek mythology can be really contradicting but I feel like it shouldn't work on the gods. Especially since they were aware of the nature of the stories. You'd think that they could have created some form of protections for themselves or simply be immune.

Loved this. As others have said, it's the closest the War Master gets to a runaround, although he never loses his edge and you're always left wondering what's round the corner! Four stories that are a lot of fun, dealing with some nice concepts and framing devices, rounded out by guest casts that are nothing short of excellent.
I liked how we're thrown straight into the events of dealing with works of fiction straight away in The Wrath of Medusa and the way it puts the Time War to one side in the closing moments. That does lead into my only criticism with the set, however, which is the way it ends. It's a lovely ending for The Master of Dorian Gray, but I do feel the whole set finishes on a bit of a whimper. It might be my expectations, but I do think it's missing that final twist from the Master where he uses everything from the fictional worlds to his advantage, or its contribution to the Time War. I adore the ending of The Master of Callous, with the Narvin reveal and it showing the awful measures they're prepared to go for victory; Escape from Reality needed something similar, I felt, although it's a minor criticism in the grand scheme of the end product.

So nice for the gods to be given their come-uppance. Why shouldn't the curse work on them? Zeus in particular is clearly mortal enough to father offspring with humans... plus the ambrosia and nectar prolongs life to near-immortality. They're not 'divine' in the modern sense like angels or seraphim.
I just enjoy the Master's machinations and blithe betrayals in pursuit of his own selfish means.

I'm 3 stories in and enjoying this set, the Greek myth story was great, I really enjoyed the Master exploiting his knowledge of myth, the Dalek eye stalks as a gift to the one eye sharing witches was a particular highlight.
The Shadow Master was good but perhaps one of the weaker War Master episodes, only because the standard is so high that a 7/10 really stands out in this range.
The Sherlock Holmes story is fantastic, a real 5 star adventure. I could quite happily have a full set of Master and Sherlock universe Adventures.
I'm 10 minutes into the Dorian Grey story, it's not grabbed me yet but I'll keep with it.

Finished the set, this was a lot of fun.
Ep 1 9/10 Ep 2 7.5/10 Ep 3 10/10 Ep 4 8/10
It's going to be a long wait until the next set, absolutely adore this range.

I think, in relation to the spoiler … it all has to do with how {Spoiler} The gods were changed by later stories/their story was overwritten by modern stories that never addressed their protection (which presumably Artemis HAD because she was the one to curse Medusa) and Medusa being unaffected by more modern storytelling and was therefore “older” and more powerful.

I had written down thoughts for each episode, but I seem to have deleted them by mistake! I found the first and final episode really solid, and the second episode to be one of the weaker episodes in the range. However, The Adventure of the Deceased Doctor might just be one of the best stories in the range and at Big Finish. It’s whip-smart, hilarious, properly twisty and Burn Gorman shines as Lestrade. One I’ll be revisiting many more times over the years!

Just finished listening to The Master of Dorian Gray except for the interviews. My problem at times with this range is The Master is just so nasty that I need more time between sets so it doesn't get overwhelming. I prefer it when there is a "bigger bad" for him to triumph over, but that doesn't happen that much. This set was an interesting change of pace. The 4th story seemed to be following much of the same formula that the first three were doing until they completely surprised me by having The Master get tricked and basically forced to leave the Land of Fiction. Kudos for the giant surprise. The Greek Myths was a wild introduction to it all. The Shadow story was probably the weakest of the lot. The Holmes and Watson was a pure rollercoaster.
Also thanks for posting the twitters with the extra art for the set. That was very nice.

Just listened to the interviews and I found it quite interesting how they had those old plans for Dorian to meet The Doctor and The Master.

After the last few War Master sets I had decided to stop with this range because they were getting too dark for me, but I was seduced by the concept of this set. And foolishly thought the Master might be restrained by the existing text of the stories. How wrong was I. And after that Holmes and Watson story I wonder if I will ever finish this set.

Well, if you like Alexander Vlahos as Dorian Gray, you should definitely listen to the final story when you are up to it.

Yes I do like him, although I have avoided some of his releases because they sounded too dark. I have some packaging/subscription objections to Dark Gallifrey, but my biggest concern is the comment “Some stories are very dark“ and it featuring a War Master trilogy…

I have now listened to the final story in the set…the ending was a pleasant surprise, but it did make the whole set feel somewhat inconsequential.
