What is everyone’s favourite and least favourites official renditions of the Doctor Who theme tune.
My favourite: Ron Grainer/Delia Derbyshire, Seasons 1-17. Fits the tone of the show.
My least favourite: Dominic Glynn, Season 23. It doesn’t really sound all that exciting.

Actually my favorite is the Howell theme with the Glynn theme close behind. I just love how 80s they are and the Howell theme especially just gets me excited for the adventure ahead.
If I had to pick a least favorite theme I’d maybe go with the 2010 Murray Gold theme - the Series 5-7A theme. I don’t even think it’s a bad theme either - I actually like it quite a bit! - it’s just not as good as all the other versions, especially when compared with Murray Gold’s other versions of the theme both before and after.

I quite like the Series 5-7 theme. How you feel about it is pretty much how I feel about the Glynn version. It’s not bad, but I find it to be the weakest version of the theme tune.

I don't want to be the I-hate-everything-about-Chibnall guy, but I genuinely think the version of the theme we've had in recent years is pretty uninspired. But pretty much eveyr other theme, at least as used on tv, has some merit.
Neither of my favourites would really count - the McCoy theme played backwards, and the theme used in the "Light at the End" trailer.

not favourite: 12th doctor theme (too shrill)
honourable mention: the version on the electric guitar from 12th doctor

I ADORE David Arnold's theme. Its the sound of "New Who" before RTD even pitched a show for me and I adore David as a composer. I mean the dude has scored classic Bond films...so lucky to have had him. And I ALWAYS mention this - the theme that never was and I wish so badly had been. The 2005 "Trip Of A Lifetime" trailer theme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EUA48zcrus

I really don't like Capaldi's opening, Visually it's absolutely gorgeous, all blue and silvers, but the rendition itself is just awful. It's far too screechy and hurts to hear.
As for favourite? The Delaware version is a thing of beauty, but I'm quite partial to the rendition that was used for the Chris/Roz VNAs.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I liked the idea of doin a more ethereal Derbyshire pitch but...absolutely - I remember seein Deep Breath in the cinema and it almost made me wince.

I do love the almost dub step feel, especially when the bass synth drops waaaaay low and its silent for a split second. But for CC era themes? Demons Of The Punjab, anyone? Makes me cry EVERY time in context of the episode.

The 2008 theme, or to be pedantic, the Voyage of the Damned arrangement specifically. Honorary mentions to the Derbyshire, McCulloch, Arnold, 2013 Gold (again, to be pedantic, The Snowman version specifically) & Akinola arrangements. But I love them all, with least favourites being the Delaware & Glynn variants. Best theme on telly.
Honorary mentions to the one-offs we've gotten over the years; Trip of a Lifetime, The Light at the End, 50th Anniversary, The Day of the Doctor, Before the Flood, Demons of the Punjab & Village of the Angels. All of them could be outright favourites if they were regularly used.
