I've been listening to Missy series 1 and recently re-watched the Doctor falls, it got me thinking how many incarnations of the Master are evil, are any capable of good?
Missy definitely had a redemption arc and realized the value of her friendship with the Doctor.
The Delgado Master seemed to have a genuine affection for the 3rd Doctor and Jo.
The Beevers Master in Masterful was ready to live a simple life when he felt loved, also in the story Master he became a good Doctor, who loved his friends and would sacrifice this life to protect them.
The Jacobi Master seems to take the most glee from the pain he causes but from time to time seemed to want to end the Time War.
Most of the other Masters appear selfish, cruel, power crazed and amoral. Shows like Game of Thrones show us that people are shades of grey and not just good or evil, going forward I'd love to see this in the Master's characterization.
What do we think folks?

The Lumiat?
But more helpfully, the Delgado Master acts out of a deliberate wish to cause trouble and hurt people... I don't think he's really much nicer than any of the others.

They’re all pretty self serving with delusions of grandeur. In fact, as he goes through each incarnation and steadily clings onto life he only seems to get worse and worse. Especially when it comes to his own sanity.
For instance, the Dreyfus Master takes no pleasure in killing unlike Beevers.

I've yet to listen to Missy series 2, is the Lumiat an interesting take on Missy/the Master? Also been a while since I watched a Delgado serial, my memory of him is he's a charmer, Moriarty to Pertwee's Holmes.

Dreyfus/Parker First Master was more affable and only killed when necessary, the only times he killed onscreen were in The Home Guard and Blood of the timelords
The Lumiat also was less evil
