Everyone has an opinion on just about how to make anything better, or seems to thank to the internet. Sometimes you see a response to said injection that amounts to 'don't tell me how to my job' i.e. speaking without relevant authority or experience on the subject. But do you think there is an actual difference between these two, or is it just an excuse to not listen?

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I will listen seriously to experts in a field, people who have been working in or adjacent to that field for a fairly long time, or folks who back up their statements/criticisms with evidence from within that field. All else is noise.
That’s a position that took me a long time to get to. And I do it because I work in a field (education) that everyone has experienced but frequently has no more recent knowledge than when they were in school themselves or when their kids were there. I read a lot of criticism of what my colleagues around the world do from people who aren’t there doing it themselves. This led me to have a moment of sympathy for other experts/practitioners of any area of knowledge when “civilians” poke their nose into things. So I try to listen to or reference people who have worked in that area.
“Relevant experience” is something that we see a lot in job advertisements: I try to use that when dealing with people who have strong opinions on a subject.

Anyone can be snarky about others. Anyone who tried to tell me how to do my job without having ACTUALLY done my job was in danger of getting very short shrift from me. Actually, I did once sit one down in front of the software and told them to get on with it then, if they were so clever, and walked away briefly. They didn't dare touch a single key...

I am not a professional footballer, but I can still have a view on whether a given team or player played well or badly.
I am not a professional chef but I can still say if the last meal I had at a restaurant was good or not and what might have made it better.
I am not a politician but I can still say Liz Truss made a mess of being PM.
You can't tell people how to do their job, but you are entitled to pass judgement on someone's results/output in that job.

Absolutely right, but it’s up to the professional to take that opinion and treat it with the respect they think it deserves. My football team hasn’t played in a grand final for over 25 years but I don’t think the club chairman is going to listen to me about where they’re going wrong. We’ve all got opinions up the wazoo but our experience in those areas is what gets us taken seriously.

Both, and neither.
I'm fully supportive of an artist, or anyone, to do as they deem correct in their field. Often geniuses have been born that way, through unrestricted thought and no regard for dogma or scrutiny.
Yet, I run a Youtube page where, ostensibly I do review other's works. I'm sent promo copies of albums and films for that purpose. Yet I am conscious that my part in affairs is essentially the Greek Chorus. I've been lucky to interact with creatives and befriend some yet I treat my side as not criticism but critique, and usually dressed in the blanket of entertainment dependent on subject.
It can be a symbiotic relationship. I've had success with some companies who have sold their artists works based on my vids but my policy is I don't review what I am quite sure I will tear down as it serves no-one much good. I say no to some high profile promos for that reason - I have no passion for them.
