WOW.. I literally just finished watching this.. Such a grounded, down to earth person. A man of his word- honesty is a pre requisite for him.. He is good value.
I 1st became aware of him from the movie "Shallow Grave" which also stars Ewen McGregor..
Looking back,he deserves all the praise with regards to the reboot of Who..It was such a gamble because of the perception back then..
Nick is so invested in his responses- a mutual respect.

Terrifically frank interview. It's amazing how he went from nothing to star (in the UK) with Let Him Have it, Shallow Grave and Cracker all in relatively quick succession. As quicky as by 1996 with Hillsborough and Our Friends In The North he was already a massive "get" for a TV show despite having relatively few credits.
Chris is, though, misremembering Angels With Dirty Faces, it's not an ambiguous end at all. Cagney is convinced by childhood best friend turned Priest Pat O'Brien to "turn yellow" to intentionally make the kids not want to turn out like him. The ambiguity is whether he will listen to O'Brien and destroy his own image or not - but it's not the case it's ambiguous over whether Cagney was scared or not.

This is great. much better than convention anecdoteds. WHen they get it right, they get it right at Big Finish.

Wonder if this was recorded recently and we will get an announcement of the third series of 9th Doctor audios?

Wonder if this was recorded recently and we will get an announcement of the third series of 9th Doctor audios? Nicholas Briggs is wearing a poppy so maybe it was recorded recently. Maybe this was done during recording of an as yet unannounced season 3?

I am pretty sure Eccleston has recently at a convention said he was recording more BF. He definitely told us in June that he was unlikely to stop with BF. Which is good news, since the 9th Doctor range is one of the few consistently enjoyable ranges at the moment.

Eccleston also had a beard during recording of the first two series, but he's clean-shaven here; it was definitely done recently (plus Series 2 finished recording about a year ago so why sit on this video for so long if it was done then?)

He still had a beard when I met him in June. And since someone pointed out the poppy- I am pretty sure this was recorded recently and someone even mentioned that Eccleston was recording more.

I’d put money on Eccleston recording more. Without coming across as rude or anything but I think he views Big Finish more (rather sensibly I think) as a consistent paying job. Which as he says in the video is one of the biggest fears as an actor. Unless he has some massive falling out with them or due to any other external factors I can’t see him stopping anytime soon.

Oh, Eccleston was honest, painfully direct and very clear at the convention that Big Finish was just a job that brings him money. He only started it because of the money. Simply no other reason. BUT. He also said that he has come to enjoy it, and he loves the scripts, and he said with quality scripts like these, and if the authors keep it up, he will continue.
Because beside it giving him money, it also brings him joy.
So yeah. He is there to stay. And believe me, if he was fed up with it, he would have said so. He was not pulling any punches concerning other things he said.

Eccleston might not be my favorite Doctor, but I have come to value him as a person. I come from a region where honesty and directness is valued above anything else. And I can respect that.

I’d do the exact same thing if I were in his shoes I must admit. But as you say, as long as it helps put food on the table then enjoying yourself while doing so makes for an added bonus.

Christopher Ecclston is divorced from the mother of his children. Speaking as a dad of two kids in the UK, the authorities will almost always prioritise the mother over the father. He will be doing everthing he can to show he can keep a roof over their heads.
