Look guys, I just feel Michael Troughton shouldn't be at Big Finish because it's nepotism. And Sadie Miller. And Daisie Ashford. I can handle the incredible insult of recasts, but using their own children? Now that's DISGUSTING. One of the above said in an interview that their parent brought them in. The resultant roles/performances were actually some of my favorites. & I didn’t even know at first that it was the lead’s child. All the actors kids that do Big Finish do a good job imho. That they carry on their parent’s role & the character keeps going… I feel the word should be lucky? Fortunate? Instead of all these other things. I should emphasise I'm being very sarcastic and I agree with you

Marrying Georgia should disqualify him from any future involvement in DW as a matter of principle

I'm pretty sure we don't know the full criteria that BF were looking for when casting these roles, but I'm confident that a big one was the ability to sound like the actor/character in question and sustain it over a prolonged period. Is it really surprising that the ones best suited are also close relatives? Not to me. If any other actors had applied, auditioned, and done better jobs, and therefore got the roles, I suspect there would be some voices here crying that they should have gone with Michael et al to keep it in the Whovian family. BF are not going to win with everyone, are they? (And that a parent recommended their child for a role in question? So what? Agents do that too. If the actor had been rubbish, they wouldn't have got very far would they? )

Hilarious to me that the Eighth Doctor Time War series has literally no spine consistency whatsoever - first set is 50th logo with the original Time War logo, then Whittaker logo but keeping original Time War logo, then Whittaker logo with new Time War logo, then they replaced the picture of the Doctor with one of Davros, and now they've changed the whole thing!

Them changing the logo for the second Time War boxset annoyed the heck out of me at the time, but it was stated that the BBC had decreed that the new logo had to be used on everything, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Them changing the logo for the Eleventh Doctor series after Geronimo was too much for me and I cancelled my series pre-order. Ever since they started calling them Collector edition sets Big Finish seem determined to make them anything but.

Best Eighth Doctor Time War set yet. Sonny McGann has come a long way with Alex and makes for a fine companion. Paul seems to have upped his game a tad as well, perhaps to impress the boy! Some very interesting ideas floating around and I wonder if the Doctor will have to pay the ultimate price where his friends are concerned.

Blimey! This set on download is $37.00 and change in US dollars. That is a price jump. If I’m catching up I guess I’m waiting for a sale.

And to make matters worse, so far at least, none of the post-release sales BF has done since the last price hike bring to cost down to what it would've been "new" (usually around $18 or $19 USD for a 3-disc DL).

They've brought them back down to the preorder price (17/20 GBP for 3/4 disc sets, or about $21/25 USD). You generally need to wait until at least two years after release to see discounts below the preorder price.

Finally got around to listening to this set over the past few week rotating with other stories.
It was a rollicking good set. Some crazy Time War continuity business going on, but I rolled with it.
It has been so long since I've heard the Alex Campbell character, that I first thought Sonny was Paul's other son and the Time War switched it. Reading here brought me up to speed on that.
I bought this and the next back in a bundle back in January 2023 and it is a little disappointing that the next volume is now not due until October 2024. Looking forward to that. Plenty of other things to catch up on.
