I also would like to add- Since someone above mentioned that the 9 Th Doctor for them does not sound as engaged and lively as the others and it sounds more read than performed. I cannot share this observation- I think it is well performed and fitting the character. I still am very much onboard with Eccleston‘s audio interpretation here.

As for the third story- The character of the talking dog was an amazing idea. Very clever, also the use of the sound effects for the dog claws. It is just lucky they have no squirrels on that planet! The monster is also making use of a new idea for the Vashta Nerada, not repeating previous ideas, but expanding and building on them. All in all well acted, with some nice claustrophobic atmosphere and a real sense of dread. You can nearly hear the darkness.
This definitely is better than the previous 9th Doctor sets I have listened to and we are back to old strengths! All three stories were gripping and clever and served me with sufficient weirdness. This remains a very strong range. I hope for more soon!

Mother in law a few hours ago sent me a pic of my Vinyls package for new 9th Doctor - Took 5 days to receive ! On the cover, written in black texta : "2 X Vinyls , 2 X Covers" I am assuming it includes replacement vinyl covers..

Odd that I seem to be against the grain and found this set a bit meh. The first and last stories were pretty good but the middle one was a rare dud from James Kettle, and honestly it feels a bit old fashioned in places that I just didn’t gel with.

This set was fine. It’s very much the 9DAs in their tried and tested style, has some neat concepts and Eccleston is on fine form, with supporting cast performing well to match. No particular highs, but no lows either. Just happily cruising at the average for this range. If there is a 9DA Series 3, I’ll only buy if something shakes it up a bit I think. Nothing against these styles and tones of stories, but I just think my appetite is satiated.

For a moment there, I thought we might have a new ongoing companion for Nine. Unfortunately, the behind the scenes features indicate that those adventures will probably take place "off screen." I'm rather disappointed as I was beginning to warm to the idea further episodes of Callen and his dog traveling with Nine.

A really good boxset. The Colour of Terror was my favourite, Red Darkness was least favourite. Not a bad story just OK. The Blooming Menace was fun.

I liked The Colour of Terror a lot. It's got exactly what I'd want out of a 9DA, alongside a great concept with striking imagery, so ticked all the right boxes for me.

I didn’t enjoy The Blooming Terror at all. I really struggled to understand what it was trying to achieve. There wasn’t enough substance to make it an out and out farce and the characters were far too generalised to make any sort of statement about the time.
Red Darkness I loved. Like The Colour of Terror it’s got everything I’d want from a 9DA. I really liked the guest cast and I thought making it a sequel to Red Darkness was a nice touch, incorporating the events of that into the ever expanding lore of the Vashta Nerada. Based on those links I wish The Blooming Terror was a different story altogether, bridging the two where the Doctor effectively loses in the end to an unknown entity, only for it to click in Red Darkness.
