A great duo. But why reunite them? Just do more adventures during the era.

A great duo. But why reunite them? Just do more adventures during the era. I quite like this idea, anything that extends the life of the Doctors that appear short lived. With 3 being trapped on Earth for so long it appears he only lived a handful of years, I much prefer the idea that each Doctor got at least a hundred years of life, so adding new eras is fine by me.

I’m glad to see this range starting to branch out a little and give the Third Doctor his own new eras. I’m a little torn on starting off by bringing Jo back. I personally would have been more interested in a completely original companion to kick things off. But I’m not opposed to the idea overall.
Already had this preordered anyways, so I guess all that’s left to do is wait for February.

It is Katy Manning. I love Katy. I had already pre-ordered it. So I am very much looking forward to it. Not quite sure how this "later" Jo fits in with the timeline... since I thought her last communication with the Doctor was from the rainforest in that parcel in Planet of the Spiders. But by now, BF is quite prolific and efficient and clever in inventing new ways to add more adventures and to expand the timelines...

My problem with all these new companions has been that the last ones they added were very similar... yes, they had an added quirk/ disability.... but they very often are young quirky females to emulate Lucie (at a guess). We had Flip (which is the closest to Lucie, but still distinct), Hebe (in a wheelchair), Bliss (who still is a bit pale) and the new companion of 11 (quirky female Cyborg).
I would love to finally have an alien. Or a male companion for a change.
So before adding yet another undistinct quirky female, or worse, a bad Liv imitation, I really prefer Jo. Even older Jo.

Is this the third time Jo's been reunited with 'her' Doctor?

Yeah, I pretty much agree, though I do quite like Hebe and Valerie. I’ve always thought a male companion would be a very interesting dynamic with the Third Doctor and I’m always, always begging for another alien companion. I do wonder why we’ve kind of stopped getting both these past couple of years… I mean, I know why we did on TV, but it’s always baffled me when it comes to audio.

Because they did it with Nyssa and the fifth Doctor, and with Peri and the sixth Doctor, and both Ace and Benny with the seventh Doctor, and we've pretty much just seen this on tv as well for Ace and Tegan, so...

I know I always bang on about him but personally that’s why I think now is the ideal time to bring back someone such as Frobisher. He’d fit the role of an alien companion when as you say, the television series would never do it.

Comparing Lucie and Flip is baffling to me I mean I understand at a very base level they share similarities, but they have very different personalities outside of their sassy attitude towards their Doctor, though arguably most companions share the at trait, especially in New Who.

He worked really well with 6 and the Dark comedy of the Holy Terror, I'd instantly pre order a Doctor and Frobisher set.

Superficially, Flip and Lucie are indeed similar. But I agree, Flip is much less annoying and actually quite good when paired with Constance. I never warmed up to Lucie.
As for Frobisher... ALL HAIL THE BIG TALKING BIRD!!! Yes!!!

ALL HAIL THE BIG TALKING BIRD!!! Yes!!! SACRILEGE!! (kidding) I adore both Lucie and Flip, and I'm hoping Lisa G feels better and is able to come back to recording soon because I miss the Flip and Constance team terribly. And Lucie is one of my favorite all time DW companions. That being said, they are very different characters yet are still in the same mold. So I do understand wanting a completely different take on a companion. (If only we had gotten ongoing adventures with 11 and the Victorian Clara. That would have been terrific.)

With all the wonderful recasts in the Third Doctor's stories, Jo is played by the only regular returning actress (it seems Benton is only to be an occasional character). Katy Manning is the person who ties the new Big Finish stories to the original 70s stuff, and I'm delighted BF are doing interesting things with her.
So yes, another definite 3DA preorder for me!

I’m not really sure I see the need or potential to put Jo Jones with the Third Doctor again, but Big Finish have done consistently great stuff with the older Jo, so I remain optimistic.

I thought the legacy of time: the sacrifice of Jo Jones kinda established that would be the first and last time 21st Century Jo would meet The Third Doctor?
The new Boxset kinda completely invalidates that emotional episode but then agian expecting big finish to keep consistent is too much for them
Seriously why didn’t they have it set in the 70s with younger jo grant
