I imagine it will be a while before we hear Karen Gillan as Amy Pond on audio.
Personally I thought Caitlin Blackwood showed great promise as Amelia Pond and if Jacob Dudman was continuing his portrayal as the 11th Doctor it would have been fun to hear the two of them together. But alas that doesn’t seem likely.
Assuming Caitlin enjoyed her time recording and is willing to do more the question is how can they use her?
That’s the problem.
The thought of young Amelia adventures set on Earth where she nearly meets aliens doesn’t excite me very much.
I like to think BIG with Big Finish!
I wonder if the Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden story provides hints to the fact that Big Finish may have already solved the problem.
No Rory.
No Mels.
Both could easily have been name-checked, but they weren’t.
So, could the universe have already changed and there is now no River Song and perhaps no more Eleventh Doctor?
A new “what if” series - The Memory of Water.
In which Amelia becomes the Amy Pond we know and love, saves her Raggedy Man and River Song returns.
What if the Monk had his latest scheme foiled by River Song and he swears vengeance. He takes a very young Rory away (the Monk wouldn’t kill a child) from Ledworth and most importantly away from Amy Pond ensuring that River Song can never come into being and will never be able to foil his plans again.
Before the Eleventh Doctor can come back for Amelia, the Tardis materialises earlier in her life and out steps…someone claiming to be The Doctor and convinces her to come away with him.
If Amy Pond never joined the Doctor in his last incarnation and River Song never existed then in all likelihood the Doctor is no more or have the Timelords given him a new set of regenerations or is he truly dead?
Who is this Doctor?
I can picture the DWM cover now….Kris Marshall is The Doctor.
And Caitlin Blackwood is his companion Amelia Pond.
