Which would put him somewhere in his 50s, depending on how long he travelled with the Doctor and how that affected his aging. I generally sort of think Jaime was in his early to mid-20s in War Games. Consider that when War Games aired in 1969, Frazier Hines was 25, so I think it's safe to say Jaime was around that age, too. Maybe ±5 years. Which would put this Jaime at 55 ± 5... Which I think he could pass for in that cover? Keeping in mind people used to age visibly a lot more way back when than they do now. Thought I could be misguided here. I'm very bad with faces (an ASD thing, I assume) and can basically only see people as infants, children, adults, or elderly. Anything more than that is a bit of a lost cause.

Just to confuse the matter further, Big Finish have previously depicted Jamie on Earth and without his memories in 1788 in The Glorious Revolution…

It’s presumably pretty straightforward approximately how old Jamie is here: Culloden was in 1745 and the first story in this set is 1776, so unless there’s something else afoot, he’s thirty years older than when he left the Doctor. Which would put him somewhere in his 50s, depending on how long he travelled with the Doctor and how that affected his aging. Cover art is more for advertising than “canonical,” IMO. Just look at how the TV Movie rights issues have caused minor inconsistencies with the Eighth and Seventh Doctor’s ages, for example. A logical and valid assumption and I almost agree with it...except I can't quite move past the cover depicting a visibly older Jamie than the one depicted on the cover of The Annihilators (I'd guess the newest cover shows Jamie closer to Fraser's actual age) plus the summary of the first story implying that there will be (God, I can't believe I'm about to write this...) wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff (🤦♂️) happening to Mr McCrimmon. Then of course there is as Sherlock mentioned.. The Glorious Revolution... Fortunately we haven't got long to find out for sure, but it's nice to be able to speculate like mad about it!

Just to confuse the matter further, Big Finish have previously depicted Jamie on Earth and without his memories in 1788 in The Glorious Revolution…To be fair, it could all end up fitting together. We don't know how this arc ends yet. (Or even how it starts.) Now, the real question is whether The World Shapers will fit in. If there's no explanation, we can probably chalk it up to the CIA meddling with the timeline.

As per Vortex, The Green Man features the return of a past monster, which if I had to guess is The Krynoids from Seeds of Doom.

Attacking it with guns and missiles are all well and good but how would say a group of Roman soldiers fare against it?

I kept thinking it was due out today, not tomorrow. Really chomping at the bit do download this ASAP -- I wasn't exactly enamored with the first set, but I'm still very enthusiastic about the range. This is the release that, I think, will really determine just how good these 2DAs wind up being, now that the premise is firmly established.
I'm also sans a functional PC at the moment (fingers crossed the new one I'm building works) and kinda-sorta-really-hankering for a good 2nd Doctor story.

I kept thinking it was due out today, not tomorrow. Eh, don't worry about it. Just because it's due out on Tuesday the 25th doesn't mean it's due out on our Tuesday the 25th.

I began the first set on day one of release, and lost enthusiasm by the beginning of the second story. I only finished episodes 2-4 of the Ice Warrior story yesterday to be ready for this release. The after credit sequence was interesting, but I was more keen for that story to end to lead into the new set. I really am looking forward to the reunion of Jamie and the 2nd Doctor. And I really hope this makes me want to get next year’s box set… off to listen, and I hope you enjoy it too 🤞🤞

Jamie
Clever set up . forward thinking, sensitively handled subject very strong work from Frazer, Daisey and Alec Newman.
The Green Man
The Duo are back together against a classic threat (as predicted technically making a Debut), lots of easy banter and another strong cast.
The Shroud
Very evocative of a modern darker tone Ep and Micheal Troughton's strongest take on the depth of performance Pat brought to it
Emma Nooks very good antagonistic style in Raven
A bold and mature boxset overall (surprisingly all the EPs make the most of their lengths), enthralling but you may need a stiff drink or a strong cup of Tea afterwards.
Regards

Regards mark687 I wasn't blown away by the unneccessarily complicated nature of the first set, or indeed by Michael Troughton's performance - but I'm tempted to buy this after reading these words.

I didn’t buy the first set (I run really hot and cold with Briggs’ writing and try to read reviews before buying stuff he writes), but did pick this up because of how interesting it sounded. Just listened to the first half of the first story, but so far it’s damned good and not hard to follow at all.

I really enjoyed the first episode "Jaime". I love the idea and potential of Beyond War Games. It's a shame we only get one set a year though, I loved the first adventure from last years box set and Michael as the 2nd Doctor.
Stephen Noonan's performance as the 1st Doctor is brilliant. Tim Trelor is well established as the 3rd Doctor. With most of the original classic Doctors at an advanced age, I'm all for the current recasts and hope their ranges go from strength to strength.
Big Finish could look (sound) very different in a few years time...well once the advanced recordings catch up.
We've seen 4 Tom Baker, 5 Peter Davison, 6 Colin Baker, 7 Sylvester McCoy and 8 Paul Mcgann lead the way for over a decade, affectively being phase 1
The next phase looking like
1 Stephen Noonan, 2 Michael Troughton, 3 Tim Trelor, 9 Christopher Eccleston, War Jonathan Carley, 10 David Tennant, Fugitive Jo Martin.
I hope we can add 11 Smith or Dudman, 12 Capaldi and 13 Whittaker to that list.
