Well this is exciting! And very interesting to hear that this was added later on (once Dudman had finished his Big Finish work) due to Lisa's reaction to the end of the last set.

Ooh I like this! A direct response to the last story being slotted into the arc. Honestly I really like how Big Finish have used this as an opportunity to carve out a mini era, with the crossover in Short Trips as well.

This is a weird one. I love the idea that the range is flexible enough to add extras, at pace and in response to feedback no less. And I love this TARDIS duo, so always happy to hear more from them.
What I find weird is the way it’s being described and handled. I struggle that a wrap up to the events Valerie goes to wasn’t ever considered to be in the main run. You’d have thought that would be a guarantee in Everywhere and Anywhere; she goes through the wringer and the Doctor needs picking up on it, but that wasn’t originally going to be the case? I also can’t really see that Jake Dudman has made a conscious decision to retire from the role, but then is suddenly happy to come back to do a one-off in very quick succession? And the recording date for Broken Hearts is down as being the same window that All of Time and Space was recorded; either a mistake or the article is little more than a fluff piece.
Happy to get more from Eleven & Valerie, but I think the way this release is being dressed up raises far more questions than it should.

Alfie Shaw seems to clarify the timeline here: I guess McMullin is being a little flexible with the truth about having heard Geronimo! and All of Space and Time before writing this.

Uh, it couldn't possibly be the case that someone who works for BF got to experience the stories before they were released to the public, could it?

The date on the website for this one is wrong. This one went from conception to studio very quickly, about a month in total. Lisa had definitely heard the first two sets.
Jacob agreed to an extra episode - and only an ep, not a whole set - off the back of hearing Lisa’s idea. The only condition was that it had to come out in situ, so that our finale remains the final release of the run.

Thanks for the clarification. Still surprised that the fallout from the set was never going to be explored, but glad it’s been rectified based on feedback and looking forward to the release.

If I hadn’t previously cancelled my physical subscription to this range, because of the change of logo, I would be very annoyed with Big Finish treating this as a download only story.
As I have already relented and pre-ordered the other box sets in this range as downloads I have now added this additional release, but for CD collectors this range is proving problematic…but what Big Finish range isn’t.

Pre-ordered. That last story was heart breaking. I am curious how this will be handled.

Big Finish seem to be releasing a lot of these extra stories as of late. Shadow of the Sun, The Ghost of Margaret and now this.

Thought this was great. Cracking resolution to the preceding story, with Valerie quite rightly challenging the Doctor and taking none of his nonsense or excuses. And then it evolves into a story in its own right, with a great concept in the weather responding to emotion, which then links nicely into Time War shenannigans; I'd quite like to hear the Eighth Doctor story told in full. It does get quite self-referential in places, especially coming off the back of Curiosity Shop, but I think it works well for the most part - the series is set amongst the 50th anniversary run and the Doctor's past comes to a head in The Day of the Doctor, after all.
I am still shocked that this story was never going to be in the main run. I think it would have felt quite hollow without, so glad it was rectified.

I’d quite like to hear the Eighth Doctor story told in full. “The Famished Lands” might be due a relisten… 😉

I don’t remember the emotional weather playing into things, though, which is really what I took to the most in Broken Hearts. So perhaps a relisten is indeed in order!
