It's going to be "rebooted/continue in another type of format" supposedly, from what little information has been released.

I'm guessing it's either lack of sales or somehow The War Doctor is somehow too 'close' to (or contradicts) whatever is coming up on television.
Jonathan Carley has been hugely praised for his brilliant performance as The War Doctor, so I'm sure he'll be continuing in some way or another. Hope so anyway!

It may be purely semantics - at some point we have to move past "Begins" and into middle - so maybe just a soft reboot?
To compare Carley and Dudman, both probably see BF as a stepping stone to bigger and better things in terms of their acting career. I would have thought Carley was at an earlier stage in his career and wouldn't be ready to move on yet, but who knows?

I don’t think we really know anything except that the upcoming set is the last War Doctor Begins in the pipeline. That could be the end of the range, it could signal a reboot, it could be Carley wanting to step back from the role, it could even be licencing related. It’s also worth noting that the range has now exceeded that of the War Doctor series with John Hurt.
Regardless, it’s been a good run and Carley is great in the role, despite irreplaceable shoes to fill.

Just like with The Diary of River Song, Briggs has indicated it's not the last we'll hear of Carley's War Doctor. I wonder if we're gearing up for a reboot across the board

Yep - and if this is the end (don't think it is though!), then we have Carley's tremendous performance to revisit. There were moments during He Who Fights With Monsters where his acting gave me goosebumps, it was so intense. |

I know that there is current "received wisdom" at BF Towers that #1s are more popular than box set number 5, 6, 7, etc. I can see them doing 4 box set runs of characters like the War Doctor so every year or two there will be a new box set number 1

Although I don't think Big Finish work in the same way the comic book industry does... we have way too many No.1's and reboots with comics. People actually grow tired of them too!
Generally I think the reason the first box set of any range might be more popular than latter boxes is probably because the overall story/arc is fresh and contains some new ideas, but by the time Big Finish have dragged the storylines out to fill the required amount of boxes, as they are want to do, then some people grow tired of the filler and weak plotting that sometimes ensue. For the listener it can be like the law of diminishing returns...
