Thank you Mister Moderator.
This year's German Doctor Who convention will again be held in Kassel. Which is a great location for me, since it is only a 1.5 hour drive from my home.
Timelash VII!!!! I already loved the previous Timelash conventions- they are pretty small with around 500 fans attending, but everything is close and personal and you can get some pretty amazing one-on-one time with the actors!
The actors even say that they love this convention since it reminds them of the olden days in the UK when everything was small and personal, and not huge and anonymous.
Last year, I had a great time with Colin Baker, who singled me out early on and then chased me all weekend to get my wig- "I want my hair back!"
Fun times.
Anyways. Here is the website and the guest list:
This time, we do not have a Doctor actor, at least none from the UK- we only have the "German Doctor", the guy who does all the dubbing voices for all the Doctors. Since I do not watch the dubbed versions, but only the originals, this is however of no big interest for me. At a guess, all the Doctor actors are busy with the running up to the 60th.
However, we will get many Big Finish actors, so many, that this convention is actually more of a Big Finish convention.
So I thought this would be of some interest for people on this forum, too.
Sophie Aldred will be coming, she will bring her original costume, which will be great for photo opportunities. I certainly will have a picture with her taken! Then Janet Fielding is back, she is very fun, and one of the few actors who actually sign dedications for autographs in German language, which is a nice touch. Then we have Tim Treolar (I love the 3rd Doctor adventures!), Yasmin Bannerman, Michael Troughton, Sadie Miller, Daisy Ashford, and Richard Price.
Plus some German moderators, fans and entertainers.
I think for Big Finish fans, this is an actually pretty awesome line-up!
Well, for the past months, I was unsure if I even wanted to go to this convention. I had some personal issues, and some real big drama earlier this year and I basically lost all interest.
I usually would have planned and hung out with the Cosplay group, but since I did not know if I would be going or not, they basically organized everything without me. So I will be watching from the sidelines. But from what I have seen and what they have shared, this years costume competition will be utterly amazing! So much love for the show, such creativity and so much shared fun!
In any case, I have now decided I will be going, so I will give some reports and in depth information from what the actors share with us.
I even rustled up a quick, cheap and easy budget costume which I will be wearing at the convention. Yes, I have decided for personal reasons to not wear my beloved Sixie costume. But I think I will be pretty unique at the convention anyways- and it could go two ways- either everyone laughs at my costume because it is so ridiculous, or they tell me I am at the wrong party and send me away..... I actually think this cheap and easy costume is fun and so bad, it is actually good again.
So watch this space!

Just dropping in briefly to respond (very quickly) to the above. Day most definitely made. Knowing what I know I'm thrilled to read that you are going and I'm sure you'll have a great time as usual. Especially in your budget costume (thanks for the picture by the way). That will most definitely raise a few eyebrows! Enjoy yourself. I look forward to the updates!

I just sent him a few preliminary pictures. The costume is not yet finished, I am still waiting for a few bits from Amazon, before I go public on here with it.
Otherwise, he is referring to the mental health issues which I have mentioned occasionally in the "What made your day" thread.

I actually got the special edition DVD of Power of the Doctor, so I will have Sophie, Janet and Richard Price sign. He played many of the Cybermen running around ( and getting shot by Ace and Tegan). And I look forward to what all of them tell us in the panels.

And here it is, the costume reveal!
May I introduce to you:
Gabadallah, a honorable Lupar who has travelled back in time to the Viking age to protect the bloodline of her bonded human family. That axe- she stole it from Wulfgar the One-Handed. So named AFTER she was finished with him. The timeline is now saved. Now Gabadallah is travelling back in the TARDIS to restore her species.
This idea came about since I learned that Chris Chibnall had stolen the idea of the Lupari from an old Irish legend. In Irish mythology, wolfmen are GOOD. They protect the weak, the widows and orphans and they will come to aid the king if they receive the call.
They are not ravenous werewolves, but hunt game, not humans (except if these humans are evil).
This costume will double also for the visit of the upcoming Powerwolf and Feuerschwanz concerts (with Feuerschwanz, I will just be perfect as the "Bastard from Asgard").
All of this was put together in just 2 weeks on Amazon on the cheap, while my brain was in the grip of COVID. For this, it actually looks pretty nice.
It is so bad, it is good again.
I am pretty sure I will be unique.
YOU NOW MAY LAUGH.
Gabadallah defender of the weak
I reworked the axe to get rid of the human skull and added a wolf head
Some soft and cuddly fur leg warmers
A cute messenger bag, since I am actually kind of cute
A nice dragonblood jaspis necklace
All the bits and bobs together (minus the axe)
I will be offended if I turn up and nobody laughs.

The finished result for Gabadallah looks terrific and the whole is just completed with THAT messenger bag..😉 I've said it before and I'll say again : have a brilliant time, make sure you 'let your hair down', howl at the moon often and send updates when you can. Oh..and have fun too. P.S. the 'Bastard from Asgard'.... 🤭😆👍

Ahhhh, this COVID thing sucks. I am feeling much better now (became sick 2 weeks ago) and probably am not infectious anymore (except maybe for susceptible people). But I will not be taking any chances and will be wearing a face mask under my costume mask during the convention. Honest as I am, of course I told my friends who will be coming to the convention that I had had COVID. Sadly, a couple of them overreacted and accused me of being an irresponsible a**hole. That really really hurt, I was feeling so bad yesterday I had actually second thoughts of going to the convention. I was honest, I take precautions, and knowing that many people will attend that are NOT tested and will NOT be wearing a mask- why does this make me the a**hole? I was even told "it would have been better you would not have told us, so now you forced our hands and we have to exclude you." So now all my dinner plans are cancelled and the dinners on Friday and Saturday I wanted to join to meet people and be social I have now cancelled in the name of "better safe than sorry". I know that this was the responsible thing to do, but I hurts very much non-the-less. Especially since after 2 weeks, I feel so much better now. I do not know, but the whole idea with the convention was a real ordeal, it took huge junks of mental strength out of me and the only reason I decided to go in the end (meeting friends) will now only happen in minimized form and with social distancing and mask. At least for the friends who actually still will talk to me. This is just not going well, and right now I am actually so distraught, that I will force myself going, and have my picture taken with the actors and my DVD signed, but probably will leave early. It is just too full of negative emotion for me and I am not feeling well enough mentally to deal with it. And yes, I am aware I did nothing wrong and that I informed people of my COVID diagnosis and wearing a mask as a precaution are the right things to do. And that the reaction above is ridiculous. I will still go, though, because I have the very faint hope that I might get a little bit of fun out of it anyways, even if it has caused me so much pain so far. Things just could have gone better.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Two weeks after illness this is a very silly (not to mention insensitive) overreaction.
I hope there are more level-headed friends attending who are aware of the ordeal this has been.
And I hope, despite the drama and the random bad luck out of your control, the decision to attend remains a rewarding and emotionally healthy one.

Well, these friends of mine, one of them has quite a bit of trauma COVID-wise since she got it early on and is now suffering from long-Covid (plus I think they had a death in the family, too) and this pretty much explains her insensitivity and overreaction. She is suffering from trauma.
COVID has caused a lot of pain and trauma everywhere.
I understand this, but it hurt non-the-less. It is nothing I can change, I just have to accept it and move on.
The reason I am so distraught and I also react so strongly is just that I had a bad year and my mental health has been poorly all year.
I had hoped I could have been social and had some good time meeting friends, but sadly, this is not going to work out as planned.
I also have to be careful with meeting another friend who is physically impaired and has a weak immune system, so wearing a mask (even after 2 weeks!) and a strict no-hug policy will have to be adhered to. But she at least is looking forward to seeing me, even with distancing.
Honestly, it is what it is. Luckily (as my parents told me) I did not get COVID next week, because otherwise my work trip to the conference in the UK would not have happened, and I mainly look forward to my conference in the UK and meeting with my nice UK colleague. I look forward to meeting her again and work together with her on making the whole company representation a success. I even get to give a masterclass lecture.
So however awful (or less awful) the convention will be for me on a personal level, at least I have the conference to look forward to next week.
And I will at least have some pictures taken with Janet and Sophie and get my DVD signed, if nothing else.

Just got the news from the Organizer- Michael Troughton is NOT coming. Sadly, he also caught COVID and has to stay at home. I hope he gets better soon and does not have to go through too much of an ordeal.

First day of convention today. It was a bit awkward having to do distancing and wearing a mask all the time. I also did not join anyone for going to dinner or anything else socially which was a real downer. But in any case it beat sitting alone at home.
I will post pictures when I am back home.
General impressions- Both Sophie and Janet loved my fluffy Lupar costume. Got a wonderful picture taken with both of them in their costumes from Power of the Doctor and Janet snuggled up to me. Both asked me if I was hot under there ( yes, I was) and Janet said „ so there is an Ellen under all of this“. Both were absolutely lovely. It was worth going just to have been able to chat with these two. I loved to see Ace‘s original jacket up close and admired it and Sophie did a nice display for me.
Also had a nice chat with Richard Price who plays many of the monsters and creatures. Told me about the troubles of not being able to go to toilet all day as Cyberman. He hated the Sea Devil costume, cannot even take head off there. He also liked the Kerblam Man, but got blinded by Jodie with her screwdriver during one scene and did not see anything anymore. In Power of the Doctor he played several Cybermen as well as 2 UNIT soldiers.
Both Daisy Ashford and Sadie Miller told about how they prepare for doing the roles of their mums, which episodes they watch (Sadie likes the Time Warrior) and that they are Lucky they have the Voice timbre of both their mums ( and their laugh).
Tomorrow I will have another picture taken with Tim Treloar.
A few rumors/ news I picked up at Timelash convention today:
1. According to Daisy Ashford, her dad ( Geoffrey Beevers) recorded more stories. He loves doing Big Finish and he absolutely loves playing his Master, where he gets to be pure evil. 2. Sadie Miller is writing stories herself, has done some Who stuff, is also writing novels and just finished a play which she is doing in a theater ( not Who). But she is thinking of doing something for Big Finish. 3. Tim Treloar said stories with Master are on table, but Delgado Master unlikely because Culshaw would have to do double duty. Someone mentioned Beevers, and we got a smile and a „perhaps“, also since Tim is friends with Sasha and Sasha Master stories are coming to Big Finish, this is also a possibility. You heard it here first. 4. News for TV series- apparently the Companion support group will get more screen time, especially Bonnie Langford. This was a bit hush- hush but Janet Fielding blurted it out before everyone could go „shhhhh!“ and „ don’t tell“. 5. Yasmin Bannerman has more stories recorded as Roz Forrester, so more of New Adventures 7Th Doctor stories underway. Recording was done only just recently.
I will be back with more, and pictures! , tomorrow or the day after.

Not sure if everybody already knows how Tim Treloar got cast by Big Finish?
He had won some award and at ceremony met John Dorney. Who invited him to BF. He did a few things for BF. But it was due to Tom Baker blurting out „ He sounds like f***ing John!!“ ( due to swear word, kids in audience had to cover ears) , Tim was first cast as the 3rd Doctor.
Oh, and the legendary BF lunches are a thing of the past due to Toby retiring/ moving on.
