I liked this one a lot. I loved the ship, and I think the Tennant and Tate were amazing in it. It was solid and creepy and I was riveted by the whole thing. I actually fell for the "Oh, no! He's left the real Donna behind!" moment. I'm not a fan of the Timeless Child storyline, but I respect Russell going all in on it and not just ignoring it. I know people are comparing this with Scherzo, and other that the two of them alone, I just don't see it. But I still loved it. And of course the scene with Wilf at the end was fantastic. How can you be a Doctor Who fan and not like that scene? It was glorious!
But I do have a major problem with this one. This is Donna's only trip in the Tardis this time around and I wanted something different. Don't get me wrong, if this was a 10 episode season I would have no complaints. But we only have 3 episodes and (as far as we know) this was Donna's one last chance to see the universe. I was hoping for a story that would showcase that. Where we can see a more mature Donna being brilliant. But we didn't get that and it makes me a little sad.

I wish to take this opportunity to correct something I said on 'The Star Beast' thread last week.
I said that while the specials were a great idea, they were 'going to be an awfully hard act to follow...'
I'll change that to 'an almost impossibly hard act to follow'. Really, 2/3 Specials down so far and they're terrific for us viewers, but Fifteen and Ruby are going to have to be a team up there in era-defining iconic-ness with Three and Jo, Four and Sarah or (not for me but for many) Ten and Rose. Crumbs.
Yep. No matter what I thought of the stories (quite enjoyed the first, loved the second), David and Catherine have been on tremendous form throughout.

I wondered when the TARDIS came back where had it been? & for how long? BF will do a Range just of the TARDIS on solo adventures.. sort of like "Lassie" or "The Littlest Hobo".

I like it! Four three-episode boxsets for starters. Feeling sad and empty at being alone, in each set the TARDIS selects or accidentally acquires one or more new temporary companions to travel with until the HADS signals it's safe to go back for the Doctor and Donna. Some of them are very nice beings, some might not be quite so nice...
Range titles: 'Roam Alone' or 'The Box That Felt Blue' or 'HADS TARDIS, Will Travel' or 'Too Big on the Inside'

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

The Little Type 40 That Could made me think of a motivational poster that doesn’t exist yet: ”Remember: it’s called a TARDIS, not a TARDISN’T” … I’ll get my coat.

Since it looks like this episode leads directly into The Giggle, what are our thoughts on possible Big Finish gaps for Fourteen?

Since it looks like this episode leads directly into The Giggle, what are our thoughts on possible Big Finish gaps for Fourteen? The length of the gap between Destination Skaro and The Star Beast is pretty nebulous (with only an annual story in there currently), so they could work with that. If they wanted Donna too, I guess they just have to get very liberal with how long the TARDIS’ crash between The Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder was.

mostly liked the episode had a couple of minor niggles 1) In my opinion, the vehicle (and maybe the robot) had too much of an Earth Human design aesthetic - of course this is because the makers of the show are human. RTD needs to employ more extra-terrestrials! 2) it's part of the 60th anniversary specials but, except for the closing moments, it did not seem anything special. Last week, brought back Donna, had the Doctor in an old face and was an adaptation of a 1980 comic. Next week we have the return of a 60s enemy, But this week, just a "normal" adventure. Of course, we have to wait to see if it's setting anything up (for example with the salt)

Since it looks like this episode leads directly into The Giggle, what are our thoughts on possible Big Finish gaps for Fourteen? Doesn't seem to be any, unless Isaac Newton wasn't the only pit stop. I fail to see the point tbh given that its basically just 10. & these episodes are supposed to be anniversary specials so don't think squeezing in more adventures is necessary.
