Thought this was pleasant and nice to have an era authentic reader in Colin. The main takeaway for me is that it’s hitting all the same beats as the previous instalments of the Spragg Opportunity winners, as they all have. It’s reinforced all the more by this year only being able to write for the incarnations they’ve not done; couple that with the same type of story and it’s just the description of the Doctor that changes.
There must be so many entrants year in, year out that are terrific but wasting their time by submitting something that deviates from what the panel are looking for. They may as well just restrict the rules all the more and stop people from bothering.
It’s unfortunate for those lucky winners too, as the end product is good, but within the confines of the Opportunity, it’s merely a variant on what’s come before.
Would love to see a shake up.

Yeah I’d be inclined to agree. It’s a nice sweet story but it’s fundamentally the same beats as past winners. The ideas are good and Baker is dependable as ever. But it’s hard to escape sense we’ve heard this before.

It was pleasant enough. It is nice to get a free short trip with all those extras.

Just up on CultBox, my take on The Hoxteth Time Capsule - a touching and cleverly constructed tale, with plenty of well-observed humour. Helped no end by Colin Baker's narration too. On an additional note, though I didn't mention it in the review, I can't help but agree with then posts above - There's certainly a particular type of story which seems to win out each year.
