I'm still unsure about whether I should buy this. I haven't listened to the first set yet given the generally mixed reception. I'll wait for opinions on the second box set to decide whether I should buy the Last Day story.

If the verdict is it all suddenly comes together brilliantly and makes total sense, the bundle will be waiting.

If it does really all come together (and I sincerely hope it does), it will make the decision to release them so many months apart seem even worse in hindsight.

Latest Vortex doesn’t inspire much confidence or excitement. They basically say it’s just like the first set! Amused me that the opening few lines of the article managed to sum up the first set without missing any detail whatsoever.

Amused me that the opening few lines of the article managed to sum up the first set without missing any detail whatsoever. Makes you wonder if anyone ever gets pulled up by Briggs or Ellery for things like the "It's very accessible for new listeners.." stuff Matt Fitton said. While that might get some quick sales in from people who aren't regular listeners - if the set is as convoluted as people here say, those listeners won't be back and won't listen to any hype again. So short term gain, long time loss. Clearly you're going to talk up your releases, but comes a time someone must say "are we the boy that cried wolf here?" And is anyone ever accountable for releases that have such a backlash? If you make a film that bombs and gets backlash from even your most dedicated supprt, probably not quite as easy to get the next film greenlit.

Amused me that the opening few lines of the article managed to sum up the first set without missing any detail whatsoever. If anything the summary offers more detail then Part 1 as it actually confirms the entities are citizens of the Dark Universe. And just like Part 1’s previews, they’re still talking about Seven’s desire to fix everything as if that deal with the devil is actually going to appear in the story, but in Part 1 it’s all already happened offscreen. I’m so torn between wanting to see this story through in hopes of a payoff and just dropping it entirely based on the mess that was Part 1. Maybe a relisten plus actually hearing Dark Universe will make up my mind.

BF seem blind to any criticism, well more accurately Briggs who comes across as so thin skinned. I don't think anyone believes the "great for new listeners" nonsense. BF seem fine with the customers they have, doing little to attract new ones.

This situation reminds me of the Dave Filoni Star Wars stuff which is completely inaccessible to anyone who isn't already deep in the established mythology. I enjoy it but I acknowledge there's a huge barrier to entry.

Makes you wonder why they are/were in in debt (heard it was around 2 million but I could be wrong have to find the number) Doesn’t help that you got the creative head of the company lose his marbles at a 7 out of 10 review of the Dalek protocol on social media and admitting that he only receives positive reviews and feedback

As a podcaster he should only care about the positive -that pod is for PR. But as a creative AND head honcho he needs to see bigger pictures.

But as a creative he should accept that not everyone is going to like everything he does. He is notoriously thin-skinned about it with a petulant attitude.

It was the regen reviews on Facebook of the big finish group The guy ended up changing the review But it seriously left a bad impression

Not sure if it’s 2 million but it was a high number which had a lot of people worried that big finish wasn’t going to survive I mean I hope big finish can pull through and I’m sure they will

BF has debtors of (i.e. is owed) £2.1M and overall its net current assets and net assets are positive. JHE also appears to move money between his various companies in the form of intercompany loans, so a large proportion of those debtors/creditors will be money that in effect he owes to himself. Always beware non-accountants reading accounts - a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing
