I can't help but wonder if the decision to reframe the XDAs as "more of the same as the TV eras" happened mid-production, and they had to hurriedly re-orient their plans for the 2DAs. It's really hard to square up some of their creative choices here, otherwise. Though it may also be worth noting that, in general, Big Finish seems very averse to solo Doctor stories. --So they could've just been caught between feeling like they couldn't sustain the 2DA range without companions, while lacking confidence in either their ability to create new companions and/or their audience' willingness to buy 2DA audios without any of the OG cast. Honestly the way I see it is big finish wanting to do as much as they can with the original tardis teams while they still have Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury alive and narratively bringing older versions of the characters they can do more emotional character development stories that they couldn’t do back in the 60s and also not have to make the cast try to pretend to be in their 20-30s They should do a balancing act of having legacy companions and new companions and thankfully with 2026 they are going to get 2 bidders a year for the 2DAs Yep. I agree. Let's get as much and as many stories with these actors as we can.

From one cliffhanger to another... great fun, but a very long wait! My take on 'Conspiracy of Raven' is up at CultBox.

I am usually more positive about these releases, but I thought this set was just the Doctor wandering around being confused, Raven being mysterious, and Jamie and Zoe being thrown in to help out. Somehow it ties in with Skaro and the Daleks, but we won't find out how until the next set. There still seems to be a lot of explanations needed.

I had the same reaction. I know Beyond War Games divided people but I really enjoyed it, and the James Robert McCrimmon set was even better.
However this felt like a big step backwards in that there was very little plot spread thinly over 3 stories. The atmosphere and cast were excellent, but it did feel like a big runaround in which time was stalled until the final reveal.
